| Thin hair Hi. Just joined today as I am the proud new owner of Ziggy my 10 week old puppy. She has a pointy fox type of face and her hair on her face is very wispy. She is Black and Tan but mum was silver. Firstly does anyone know if the hair on her face will thicken as she grows and will her coat change to silver? Jacquie |

| Yes, her hair will most likely get thicker and change colors.

| Thank you. I was hoping she would get a bit fluffier. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It's really tough to say bc hair is a genetic thing, so she may just have thinner hair. At this young age though, there are still a LOT of changes their fur goes through, so it's possible it may fluff up a bit. Welcome to YT !

| My Abby has thin hair and a tiny little foxy face. Even tho she is AKC and I saw the mother, father and entire litter- a few weeks later I was concerned that she must have been part chichuaua! Today at 3 years she has a beautiful - "no care" coat that is fine and silky, leans toward lighter colors (fades to silvery in summer), and never smells or looks dirty by the end of the week (like Ziva does), has noticeable whiskers and gorgeous eyelashes and tiny little "cat" feet. She also has a quick athletic body, compared to boxy short Ziva. |

| Thin hair Thank you so much for your help. I must admit I was a bit concerned my little Ziggy was part chiwuaua too as she has a pointy face but she is still so cute. It will be interesting to see the changes in her over the coming months. |

| Uni also has very thin hair. She was fairly fluffy as a pup but now it's thin. Hair is genetic. Just like humans, no amount of shampoo or product will make the hair different unfortunately. The plus is that it's easy to check her skin for bumps, fleas, etc.

| I have not seen hundreds of Yorkie pups but the ones I have seen usually have a thinner coat than other breeds. The Yorkie can be a bit different in coat because they do not have an undercoat like most other breeds do. They just have, or are supposed to have a silky kind of outer coat without out any of the fluff that would grow on Maltese or a Shih Tzu. My Gracie's coat did thicken as she matured but not until after she was about 18 months old. You will just have to wait and see. Most Yorkies do get lighter in color as they get their adult coat although some stay dark. |
