| Licensing Questions & Hoping to Find Puppy Hello all! Still fairly new and not even close to getting a puppy yet (still researching breeders , maybe you can head on over to my first post in the regional tri-state board and share some info ). I'm not sure if its "legal" to direct people to that post or should I post the same post here in general discussion? Just want to make sure I'm following the YT rules. But I was reading up on collars and ID tags, and then saw that New York State requires dog licensing and proof of rabies vaccination when your dog is out in public. I'm a little confused: I've read some stuff about license tags, so do I get a license number that I can then get put on one ID tag with the rabies vaccination number and other contact info? Or are each separate tags, so I would have to have 3 different tags on my future puppy? Or can I do either or? Hopefully that makes sense! |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I should let someone from NY answer this, but in my province, you get a rabies tag from the veterinarian when you do the rabies, then when you license your dog you get a license tag. Here we can pay a bit extra and have our contact info placed right on the license tag. You are supposed to put both tags on their collars - but don't use the collar to attach the lead to, for Yorkies halters are best.

| Thanks for replying! Im sure it's not heavy at all to have 2 or 3 tags, just thinking it'd be more convenient to have it all on one. Not sure in what aspect exactly, probably just overthinking it. But I plan on having a breakaway collar on at all times for ID, but I know definitely only a harness for walking. |

| Here you get a separate tag for the license so that would make three. I don't put it on Callie's collar I just have it in her bag. No one ever checks here.

| I probably would be able to do the same here. I doubt anyone checks here in NYC, too many people. But I've read its mostly for if your dog is lost so... |
