Your doing fine just need ideas not critisisum. I used the belly band as a precaution only. Your smart enough to know you cant count on it alone. As i knew i couldnt. Also an xpen might help. So who ever you pen dont feel punished. Im working on teaching mine to be in the cage but so far they both hate it. It is trying for sure. I had boo one week when my pap came in to heat. He also had just reached man hood. Lucky me. We watched them like hawks. But being seniors who cant move fast and the belly band allowed us that little bit of time. That and constantly keeping them in the same room with me and all doors locked. Sometimes i would put one in the room with me and the other stayed in the other room with dad. So they neither felt alone. But even with all that i DO NOT want to go threw another time with her. Getting both fixed jan.

I have had as many as 8 intact females and 5 intact males together on the same property over the last 30+ years, and I never had an "oopsie". Have your male neutered immediately if you are not able to absolutely keep these two separated....I am a religious person, but "praying" that you dont end up with an unwanted pregnancy is NOT going to work. Dont put this responsibility on God! This is YOUR responsibility! Your female just had major surgery so have the MALE neutered! If you can not do this medical necessity to prevent your "oopsie", then keep these dogs isolated, apart, in separate rooms the ENTIRE time she is in heat. You can expect EVERY male dog within 5 miles to come looking for this fun time party girl, and she will stand on her head and push her butt up to any opening she can possibly find to get bred.....this is something you have to prevent by being proactive and preventative, not simply praying it doesnt happen!

OMG this was Uni to the max! I only went thru one heat cycle with her. She wanted out all the time! It even looked like her "rosebud" was angled out for *easy access*! LOL It swelled up to twice it's normal size! Yuck! After it was over I got her spayed. Thank god! Best decision I ever made!

Female diapers and male belly bands will not help. They are not solid steel Everlast chastity belts with not keys (Princess Bride reference). They are soft pieces of fabric and will move out of the way with little resistance.
