| Someone is going to lose an ear... Hi, so we just picked up our newest addition, Milo, about one week ago. He and our six month old, Lexi, seem to get along great. They are always playing and when they are calm they will sleep next to each other. And when I put Milo in the crate Lexi will whine for him to come out. It's pretty cute. However, Lexi is almost 9 pounds where is Milo is only three at this point. When he gets older I expect they will be similar sizes but for now he's significantly smaller. Lexi seems to want to play more often and rougher than Milo, She also seems to be a little bit jealous over attention even growling and launching at Milo when people come and see him even though we give her attention first. They play this game where they steal each other's toys and then chase each other around which seems cute at the beginning but then it kind of escalates.at the end the toy is totally ripped and they are just wrestling. It doesn't seem too aggressive except for perhaps when Lexi's starts growling and launching at Milo's neck but it just seems too rough for little Milo. Do you guys think that they will grow out of this rough play when were at Milo grows up a little bit or perhaps when they get more used to each other or should we be discouraging Lexi from playing with him altogether? It seems even when they start gentle it always ends rough. Lexi will pull Milo out from under things while he's hiding by his feet, collar, or even his ears. I'm almost afraid he's going to lose one Last edited by Bhieta; 12-02-2014 at 09:13 AM. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Congrats on your new baby! I would only interfere if/when you think things are getting too rough - make a high pitched "ouch" sound or something so it startles them out of play and then redirect them. I think as Milo's confidence grows, he will put up with less and let his preferences be known more. For now, he may be pretty accepting and submissive as he's used to so much puppy play.

| lol, I am getting flash backs to my puppy days lol, the dragging of the baby out by the feet lol. When one of my older girls ( all now past) would get into a playing frenzy and the baby needed to rest and would hide under a table or behind the sofa, then got dragged out by feet of butt fur, I would step in, put the older one in time out so she could chill out and give baby a rest period. When the baby was older 9 months or so, she was close in weight with the older girls, then the baby would do the pulling out lol, they played really rough but never to the point of hurting each other. As Milo gets older and gains some weight the tables will change lol, My girls never growled or launched them selves at the baby, they loved her, no jealously and all 3 would sleep in the same doggie bed, they all had their own, but choose to sleep together, so a 4th bed had to be gotten, and bigger lol they were so cute. silly and soooo funny, I miss those puppy days. Step in when Lexi gets to excited, or starts dragging lil Milo out from under things.
