| ears.... When i got my little harry he was 12 weeks old and his ears were standing High(like yorkie ears - I am told)...and he is perfect..other then the picky eating lately... Now little winnie's ears are kind flopped over and she is 11 weeks...someone that was at the vets office told me i better tape her ears...i was like what? The vet said they dont do that...and that she heard of it, but winnie's ears are fine and have good cartiledge... What the heck? Are they supposed to be up or floppy or is it more of a personal preference... HELP!! Thanks

| Rocky's ears did not stand up until he was 13 weeks old. But they seem to go up and down depending if he is teething or if he tried. Right know he is 5 monthes old, and his ears are standing up except when is tried, than they both flop over. I am guessing this is normall, I have not idea this is my first yorkie. But either way up or down, he looks cute and I love him. |

| I'd just wait and see for a little bit. My little mans were down til he was about 5 1/2 months old and then they went up. He still has one lazy ear but it stays up most of the time. I've also read they go up and down during teething.

| Some Yorkie's ears won't come up on their own and need some help standing. Shaving the hair off the ears to take some weight off is recommended. Sometimes the hair alone is enough to pull them down. If that doesn't help, here's two methods of taping them so they learn to stand: http://www.shooterdog.com/alexfaq2.htm#EARS http://members.cox.net/jrogan/ears.html But if you decide you like the floppy ear look, just leave it alone. They may stay floppy or they may come up on their own. I prefer erect ears, but there's a lot of memebers here with floppy eared Yorkies that are just adorable! |

| Crissy's ears were already standing at 10 weeks when I picked her up and have never gone down. Cooper's ears at 9 weeks were not standing but it wasn't long before they were. Once up, they never went down. Carter's ears were up at 6 months when we got him and have never gone down. They say during teething that they may go up and down. If you really want them to stay upright, I wouldn't chance it and would tape the ears. My granddog's , Sebastian, ears were up when we got him and not long after I had taken him to my daughter's home, they went down. She has never taped or anything. He is now about 8 months old and his ears have never gone back up.

| The only thing I did to Wyatt was shave his ears and they are both up, he is 5 months old. The top part of the left one sometimes will flop down. I have read on here that sometimes while they are teething their ears will go down and that they come back up when they are through teething. Here is a link to a couple of pictures that I just posted of Wyatt. His are up right now. Last night his left one had flopped over some. I never taped his I just shaved them. I would think that since they were up when you got your puppy that chances are good that they will go back up. Of course I'm not sure and this is only my opinion. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28010

| I keep Rocky's ears shaved. I attempted to tape his ears, but he just pulls the tape off once it get it in place, so I just don't bother with that anymore. Plus, getting him to sit still long enough to tape his ears is a chore within it self. |
