| Check out some of these newspaper ads... just browsing the pet section in my local paper (raleigh, nc) and found these... **YORKIE 1 yr old. Good with kids; FREE to good home. 919-518-8073** - wonder why free??? **YORKIE STUD SERVICE. AKC regis. 4 lbs., proven. 919-552-7473.** **YORKIES AKC- tiny babydoll males $950, 919-837-2956** is babydoll a new term for teacup? I admit, i didn't know much about the breed terms until i started looking for my girl..and was SO thankful for this site and finding out the real ins and outs. Then you see ads like these and you think, geesh?

YT Addict | Yep,think you'll find the terms babydoll and teacup are pretty much frowned upon here as being placed by folks trying to breed small dogs to below breed standards.I'm sure this is not always true ,some just thinking the terms cutesy and more apt to generate a response to their add.

| I think Babydoll refers to facial features, rather than size of yorkie. A babydoll face supposedly has a shorter and rounder snout/muzzle than your typical narrower muzzle yorkie. I would bet that the "free" yorkie is not properly housebroken. |

| Ads like that always make me wonder "Free to a good Home" I have been told even if you are just giving away list an amount to try and keep away animal testers and other freaks.

| When I was searching for my yorkie puppy, I put an ad on Louisiana Classifieds. A man contacted me a day after I put the ad. I have caller I.D., so he was in my local area. He had a male yorkie, 1 year old, that he was giving away for free to a good home. He said him and his live in girlfriend work so much that they don't have any time to devote to him. And they said if I was interested, they would visit my home. Because they said they were not going to just let him go to any home. I discussed it with my mom, but she urged me to wait. Because we were really looking for a female and a puppy. So, we did wait and I am glad we did. It took 6 months of searching. But, I found my breeder on Louisiana Classifieds only 10 minutes away from my home. And she has the most perfect beautiful little girl waiting for me! If I would not have internet service, I probably would of never found my puppy. There has not been 1 listing for a yorkie at all in my local paper for about 6 months!

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | I think the term babydoll is very similar to teddybear face...it is just the different terms for the way the snout looks like!! The one that is free to a good home, could be anything...some people just can't handle their new puppy and want what is best for them but I do agree that you should at least list some price so you don't just give them to anyone!!

| I also think that "babydoll" is a term of endearment - describing his cute little face... Carol Jean |

| Babydoll isn't another term for teacup , it is a term to describe the facial features of a puppy that keeps them looking like a puppy longer as they grow. |
