YT 500 Club Member | ![]() So i know we all get nervous when our dogs go under but I am especially nervous because my puppy has the coughing thing going on when he scratches his neck or sometimes playing to hard. Nervous that the tube in his throat is going to make it worse. I brought it up to my vet and she said not to worry about it but hey its not her puppy!! LOL |

| ![]() What is happening with the coughing? He scratches at his neck? He is doing this regularly? Any chance it is kennel cough? Did you do pre-op blood work? I wouldn't go ahead with surgery without it.

| ![]() Yeah really, don't worry she says. It's not her puppy. Don't blame you one bit. I suppose in her way she was trying to help you be calm about it but I understand your feelings. I hope it all goes well for you. Best wishes.

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Hi Maximo, he has always had this cough since I got him at 5 month. Well I can't say it is a cough it is like a quick clearing of the throat when he drinks or plays to hard. But he has not done that in a while now he will cough when he scratches his neck. Kinda like a dog sounds when he pulls on a leash and is on a collar. He has really bad allergies. I have to say now that Fall is upon us the itching is not as severe. |

One thing you may want to do is to capture the cough on video and show it to the vet so they can get a better idea as to what's going on here.

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Williys mom. I know a lot of people think puppies can't have allergies. But from experience I have to disagree. I had a shih tuz that was very itching every August-October and it started when he was a puppy. I figured out it was from Ragweed. Every year from Aug-October he would itch and then it would stop. Now the new puppy was very itchy this summer now that we are in September he hardly itches. So I am thinking that puppies can have allergies. He is on a non grain diet and that did not stop the itching but seems like the Fall weather has. |
