| How long did it take for your resident pup to warm up? Hey all! So I have an almost 6-year-old Yorkie named Diva - who has been the princess to all who've met her since I got her at 6 weeks (yes, I KNOW, she's the off-spring of my brother's super Yorkie - she is perfect and sometimes dreams come true). I now have another Yorkie. Her name is Ruby, she was born in early July and she's a feisty little thing, but she knows I'm the Alpha. My issue? Diva is NOT. A. FAN. She wants no parts of her AT. ALL. Ruby tries to engage her and Diva just takes off. When Ruby gets too close, she lets her know. She avoids her and anything scented like her like the plague. I realize that dogs might not be the best of friends, but won't they at least tolerate each other at some point? Ruby is so excited in all her puppy glory, but Diva is a like a classist little snot. LOL. I work to give both attention and we all give extra attention to Diva so she doesn't feel pushed aside. It breaks my heart when I'm working on training Ruby and I look up and see Diva staring at me like I've abandoned her. It doesn't help that Ruby has taken to grabbing Diva's toys and chewies and me having to police all of that. Thoughts/advice anyone?

YT Addict | Yeah, sounds all too familiar. My senior Biewer male 6.5 yes old pup 18 weeks still separated. Pup wants to play senior growls at him (both males). I am praying for a cure, LOL. Good luck let me know if you find something that works. We have tried to engage both of them in games together with no luck. |

| Well today we had what I would consider a breakthrough!! After following Diva around and different points during the day and having her growl and even go so far as to show teeth, Ruby found a way to engage in doggie banter. It all started with an empty water bottle. Diva likes to take our empty water bottles and take bite off the caps. She then bites off the ring and likes for you to chase her for the bottle. Well, Miss Ruby has decided SHE wants to play the bottle game and swiped the bottle I had today from Diva, which didn't make her a happy gal and she growled at Ruby. Ruby has growled back at Diva and stood her ground since she found her puppy voice. But today she not only growled back, but found a way to tease Diva, which enticed Diva to chase and bark at her. This went on for about 15 minutes. I filmed it with my phone because it was so amazing to see. Ruby would start growling back and Diva and Diva would wag her tail and bark then Ruby would trot off and Diva would follow her. NEVER happened before. Right now, Diva is at my feet and Ruby is nearby in her little puppy cove chewing on a toy and they are in close proximity. We'll see what the rest of the day has in store.
