I now have another Yorkie. Her name is Ruby, she was born in early July and she's a feisty little thing, but she knows I'm the Alpha.
My issue? Diva is NOT. A. FAN. She wants no parts of her AT. ALL. Ruby tries to engage her and Diva just takes off. When Ruby gets too close, she lets her know. She avoids her and anything scented like her like the plague.
I realize that dogs might not be the best of friends, but won't they at least tolerate each other at some point? Ruby is so excited in all her puppy glory, but Diva is a like a classist little snot. LOL.
I work to give both attention and we all give extra attention to Diva so she doesn't feel pushed aside. It breaks my heart when I'm working on training Ruby and I look up and see Diva staring at me like I've abandoned her.
It doesn't help that Ruby has taken to grabbing Diva's toys and chewies and me having to police all of that.
Thoughts/advice anyone? |
I feel your pain and frustration! Our 8 year old has still not warmed up to our 8 month old, although she tolerates her. The older one is NOT. INTERESTED. lol! The little one tries so hard to play, but she also steals the older one's toys and chases the older one all the time. I've pretty much given up on them ever being buddies, unless a miracle occurs once the little one outgrows the puppy stage! Hope your eventually become friends!
