| Max was a year old when we decided to get a second dog. He had an only child personality and was not particularly well socialized. We had a chance encounter with 2 loose Yorkies and he did really well, so that sealed the deal. Although we ended up getting his Yorkie brother, he does like other breeds, but he has a preference for small ones. I agree with others who say it really comes down to the individual dogs. Sex and breed really don't matter. Some people say 2 strong males can be a recipe for disaster, but Max and Teddy get along beautifully. I've heard the same about females. Although male/female combos are often touted as the best, I know a couple who barely get along. I wish you the best in finding a great companion.
