What other breeds get along best with yorkies..
 
I'm looking to get a second puppy soon. I've been searching for good reputable breeders but I can't seem to come across any honest yorkie breeders. However I've come across shih tzu maltese and bichon babies that are beautiful and coming from fantastic breeders. My question is does anyone have a yorkie and one of these breeds how do they get along or any other tips.

I have a 9 month old Yorkie mix, and I just got a Shih Tzu. They are getting along great already. My Yorkie wants to play a lot more that the Shih Tzu, but he is still a baby. I like that although he will be bigger, he will still be small enough to play with Lexi who is only 5 pounds.

Thanks hun. I was just looking at a beautiful fawn female shih tzu I love the coloring. But then again if I could have one of each I would but my fiance says nuh uh lol

My friend's Shih Tzu and my golden girl, Mia, are inseparable when they are together. They love to play together.

I see a lot of shih tzu breeders in my area. I've also seen some that are being rehomed which I prefer and they are just so dang cute :p. Your babies are adorable

Honestly I would have to say that it would depend on the personality of your yorkie and the other dog. The sex of the dogs could make a difference too. How old is your current dog? Is yours a male or female? Have they been altered? There are many things to consider so there is not a simple answer.

I have a female. Honey will be one in October, she is very outgoing and loves other pups (ex:at the puppy park puppy play dates or family members dogs) she's isn't aggressive at all. She will be spayed in October. If it matters i want another female

Ps your baby is beautiful. I can't wait until honeys hair gets that long :D

Thank you.:) Your Honey sounds like a real sweetheart. Are you looking for a young pup or one closer to Honey's age? If you went with a bit older pup you would be able to tell more about their personality. Perhaps a rescue would be a good option. Just take your time searching and hopefully you will know when you have found the perfect match for Honey. My daughter has a little yorkie plus two big dogs and a chihuahua and they all get along great.

Thanks darling she's my baby girl 7 of pure yorkie love and affection. When I found out it was nearly impossible for me to have kids I got her and she loves me and acts just like a baby when I'm sad she cuddles up to me and sticks her tongue out and make her ears go up and down I love it

Oh and it doesn't matter if I get a puppy or an older pup just as long as she is honey approved :). I took her to a breeders home in pa she was growling (which she rarely does) we get inside there is puppies all crated up and dirty. Needless to say we didn't get a pup

I think most breeders would not allow someone to bring a strange dog to their home or kennel.

Keep in mind that some dogs, when they are not raised around other dogs, get very jealous and are protective of their owner and they don't bond with other dogs. Yorkies have a wide range of personalities. Some of very active, some are couch potatoes, some love other dogs and people and some don't. I have had yorkies that would get along great in the beginning and they later started fighting when they get jealous or try to establish dominance.

Thanks it makes sense and I won't make that mistake again. As far as the dominance issue I was thinking alot about that and in fact just read another post about her dog attacking the older one to establish dominance I'm a bit scared of that

Thank you for the kind words about my babies.*** They all had previous homes but are the loves of my life now.

I do think it depends greatly on the dogs and not necessarily the breeds.* Some are great together and some just do not like each other. Shih Tzu seem to have a very happy personality.
