| Help me pick a grooming table and shears.. can't decide which is better! Okay, so a little background info: Chloe is a 9 month old puppy who's really squirmy and doesn't like to be groomed. She's also really small at about 3 or 3.5 pounds. I haven't weighed her recently so I'm not 100% sure. These are the 2 tables I found.. This one is small but needs to be put on a counter: https://www.petedge.com/zpetedgemain...c-locale=en_US then there's these bigger ones: https://www.petedge.com/zpetedgemain...c-locale=en_US https://www.petedge.com/zpetedgemain...c-locale=en_US Which is better for a small dog? I'm assuming the round one but I feel the bigger ones are easier to store. I can't make up my mind, lol. Also, can anyone recommend good quality shears from petedge (or anywhere else) for general grooming? Do I need a rounded tip or is a regular tip fine? I already have the wahl peanut for her paw pads but I need to trim her skirt and her leg hair because it's starting to drag on the floor. Thanks!

| I have the round counter top table like the one in your first picture. For me that is what works. I have a kitchen island that I put an old shower curtain down on first and then put the table on it to catch the hair. My two are 6 and 8 lbs. and both don't mind being groomed so I don't even use the loop. I think either kind of table would be good. As for shears, I am no help because I don't remember where I got mine but I have a straight and curved pair of small, ball tipped scissors that I use all the time. Whatever you decide will be the right table.

| I'd say go with either first or second. You don't want too much space for your pup b/c they'll want to roam around even with the holder on their neck.. If your pup is squirmy, I think the rounded tips are better. And I'd like to suggest you get thinning shears too. I like using it to make the cost more evened out. I also got the curved shears for those awkward areas that's not easy to get to. |

| I have a couple of the bottom link, in the smallest size. They are sturdy and a good height with a chair. But I can see all 3 working. The middle one appears to be a ringside table, but may be sturdier than it looks. Whatever works for you will be the right one. As far as shears, I got mine at a dog show and had someone else help me with a good set. I have both kinds, because the rounded tip seems safer near the eyes. You're right, I believe that is a ringside table. I only picked it because it looks to be the most handy to quickly fold and put away. I'm not sure about the zigzag stand though, does that look like it might be flimsy to you? I think I might narrow the choice down to the bottom 2 tables because the round one does definitely need to be placed on top of something before use and it doesn't look easily foldable. Do you remember the brand of the shears by any chance?

| I just use my dinning room table covered with a towel, that's where I brush Lola too so she's used to it. I bought $10 shears from Sally's, the tips are fairly rounded but not ball tipped, I think the brand is Eclipse. I wouldn't use them near eyes though. They're really sharp and when they get dull I'll just throw them out. I agree you need thinning shears, they cover a lot of flaws, I use my mom's old pair so idk the brand. |

| The Chris Christensen shears are a little bit higher in price but have the advantage of being able to be sharpened. I prefer them but others may have ones they like better.

Would you guys say I can get away with just a pair of straight shears or is a thinning shear a must?

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Just to chime in I find the ringside table I have has these adjustable feet which can be "excuse" my French, a bit*ch to get levelled and therefor the table can be wobbly. So for home use, I might go with a table top table. But again depending upon how tall you are, and I am short(ish) my glass top desk works fine for Razzle, although I do have 5 grooming tables, sometimes, I just pick him up and put ontop of one of my big guys crates. A noose for grooming is only going to help a little, the wee one is still going to wiggle and squirm. You need to start to train for grooming. I usually start the pups out on my lap, gentle gentle brush. Holding them still, giving lots of love and treats etc. I hope this helps

| I'm sorry I forgot to answer the last part of your question. I love having thinning shears to take the lines out. I have a cheaper pair of those as they don't get as much use.

| I have the middle table in purple though I really wanted the tabletop round one. I didn't buy it as I thought the whole thing might sit too high on my table which would be uncomfortable for me. I'm pleased with the stand alone table.

| This is the set I purchased and very happy with: Alfie Pet by Petoga Couture - 10-piece Pet Home Grooming Kit It's about $40 but has all the shears you'd need. Also, a thinner shear isn't a must but is nice to have. I originally used just the straight shear and decided to get the thinning shear much later. It really covers alot of the flaws that'd be noticable. |

| Thank you everyone! So far I have narrowed down the choice between the ringside table and the round table but I'm leaning toward the round table because I'm not sure about the stability of the ringside one. Also, it only comes in black.. which I don't like that much, lol. I also could probably use the round one on my bathroom counter easily and then store it in the cabinet. For shears, I picked the Heritage stiletto.. any thoughts on these in 7.5"? https://www.petedge.com/zpetedgemain...c-locale=en_US

| Okay, I have picked my grooming supplies! I got the Heritage stiletto shears in 7.5" and this grooming table in purple. ( https://www.petedge.com/zpetedgemain...c-locale=en_US ) I'm excited, hopefully she won't be too tiny on the table, lol. I just felt like if I'm going to buy something then I'd rather it be fully functional, stable and handy. This table looks to fit that criteria. I really like the CC shears but I'll look into those when I practice a little with the stiletto's
