Poor Zoey! I hope she is back to 100% soon. I'm glad the other vet was able to see her. I would definitely let your primary vet know about the voice recording and ask again about emergency calls. None of the vets in my area take calls after hours. We have to go to the emergency room. I don't like that because I am really nervous about allowing a doctor I don't know to treat my dogs. We had to take Max once and thankfully the doctor we got was wonderful. |

I would ask your vet about it. I would not switch just to have one that is also an er vet. My vet recommends one or two on the recording. But Callie's orthopedic surgeons office turns into one after the others in the area close for the day/night it's worth the 45 minutes but if it was something that needed ASAP and could not wait that long we have a few to choose from around here the one I would go to in that case is 20 minutes. I have always heard black tar like poo means internal bleeding. I always keep a list of Callie's meds in her bag so if we have an emergency I have the list for the er vet. |
I would not expect a Vet to be standing by 24/7, if their available great, but most Vets will list emergency after hours clinics that they have an agreement with. Check them out so in an emergency you know which one you like, mine worked out fine when I needed it and coordinated with my Vet for follow up the next day fine. |

Not interested in anything ....not even our nightly ritual of "where'd that darn squirrel go.!" Perched in front of the window till dark... Thanks for the well wishes , she has been joined to me in her sling she just loves. At least she didn't throw up the little bit of rice and cottage cheese she had at 3....but still won't drink |

I'm suppose to cram a pill down her throat and they didn't even do blood tests, no mention of pancreatitis either:( |

Zoey did get get an antibiotic rx but the vet did have any and I tried three pharmacies with no luck. She was put on Royal Canin Gastro Low Fat canned food. She has done well on it. The fat content is 1.5 % fat. |

Had to leave her tonight She was growing more lethargic this pm so I recalled the er vet and made another trip . This time she recommended me to leave her overnight with an I v in her arm..... But as the day wore on today she wasn't drinking or eating, this morning she got fluids with i v and nausea shot but it wasn't enough. I had to recall the e r vet and express my concerns...she was just laying around no reaction to anything . I would stand her in front of her water dish and she would just look at me and not move. Lay and not move , no licky licky , no wiggle wiggle....nothing...I was afraid she was going to die! I had to leave my poor baby alone,.new vet ... Strange place for her oh waaaaa till morning. I did take her favorite blankie and my night shirt. Poor little thing had it coming out of both ends being hooked up ....those sad sad little brown eyes looking at me to make it all go away and I had to leave her! She's only a year old😭 Please pray for my baby Zoey she is such a good little girl....they shouldn't get so sick..... |
