| Stitches from nueter haven't dissolved yet? Draco was neutered on March 9th. Hist incision seemed fully healed by the beginning of this month. How ever it seems a cluster or of his stitches didn't dissolve or perhaps none of them. As it seems like he was stitched from the inside, there were none visible from the day he was neutered. About a week a I saw him licking the area a little too much and saw it look a bit irritated where the tiny scar was. When I felt it I could feel a lump. I called the vet, and she said that I should just put an e-collar on to give him more time. The area looks has gone back to looking fine, but the lump is still there, but it is smaller. Has anyone else had to deal with this? How long did it take the stitches to dissolve? Or did you request that the vet fix it right at the moment. The only reason I haven't done that is, because the vet said it would mean putting him under again, and I don't want that. It's one of the reasons I waited to get baby teeth pulled so he wouldn't have to go under for both teeth and neutering.

| Are you sure that it's not just scar tissue that has formed? The site was closed in more than one layer with different types of suture and even a surgical glue for the skin. The absorbable suture that was used internally starts to break down over about 2 weeks but that doesn't mean they are completely dissolved in that time and could take longer which it sounds like in this case. Sometimes there is a reaction to the suture but that usually involves an opening to the incision. But there have been times that a stitch comes to the surface and can be clipped and removed by the vet.

| I think this happened with Kaji. The vet explained he had a tiny knot which made it a little harder for the stitch to dissolve quickly since at the knot you could say the stitch concentration was higher. It did dissolve completely over a matter of time, it just took longer than the rest.

| As someone already mentioned sometimes a "scar" forms under the skin where the stitch was knotted and a bit more skin tissue was involved. It probably will disappear after a while, it just takes a little longer. |
