| "baby gate" HI there, just wondering if anybody knows of a good site to find a gate to close off areas of the house. we have a large hallway 44inches and I need to somehow block it off at night when we put the kids to bed. Otherwise little Max is down visiting them often and the kids don't go to sleep. Thanks in advance. |

| My experience with baby gates is that your furbaby won't be on the "other" side of the gate for very long. They are smart pups and learn how to get over the gate quickly. It took Carter all of 2 days to figure it out. If they want to get over the gate bad enough, they'll figure out a way to accomplish it.

| I have had success with baby gates except for my first one has very thing pieces of the plastic that weavers together and Gracie bit right through it!!! I came home from work and there was a hole towards the boom in the corner and she crawled through and made herself at home! Now I have a thick plastic one that the weaves are very thick...no way she is biting through it! However I dont know how long mine extends I just use mine in a basic door way of my room. |

| I got a very tall baby gate to close bella up in the kitchen. I can't even step over it and nearly broke my neck trying one time. anyway, she was up and over it in no time, so I spent a lot on baby gates and they are useless! |

| We used a baby gate for lucy that stood about 3 ft and I never saw her even try to clear that! She could squeeze through the gaps though so we fixed on some perspex to stop her. |

| I've got a wide door on my kitchen and we are using a metal playyard that we put up in the doorway. It's made by precision. The door slides back and forth to let us in. I haven't seen any gates for wide doors but maybe someone else has.

| I've seen gates for wider door frames on ebay (thought about getting one for our open kitchen). You buy the normal size one and can buy the attatchments that make them fit any size frame. They aren't cheap either, but I'd start with ebay as you can find good deals there. We tried a normal doggy gate and Ranger climbed right over at 3 months of age. Apparantly there are a lot of smart yorkies who don't like to be confined!! Good Luck!

| I bought one at Petsmart , but I think it's by GRACO. It is for wide openings and swings open like a door so I don't kill myself. Its at the bottom of our stairs and so far Mia hasn't ventured over it though she easily could. |

| We actually purchased a 3 foot dog gate at PetsMark. I believe it was around $40. However, our 6 pound 15 week yorkie can jump over it!!! We now have two dog gates stacked on top of each other. Hopefully that works! Our first time trying this is today... Note: Stomper (my yorkie) didn't start trying to jump over it until he was 12 weeks old. If you have a real young one...he/she might not start at it until he/she gets a little older. |
