If you have a dog with a very sensitive stomach that changing there food even slowly seems to effect then I would think it would help during the change over. I have read a lot about giving it when the dog is constipated or has runny poo. My dog will not touch it I even tried putting it on my finger (ewwww) and trying to get her to lick it off but she was very much not a fan.

First time I am changing his food, Cody is adopted, I only have him 6 mos and he is 3 y/o, the transition is almost completed and so far so good. I really cannot say if he has a sensitive stomach, time with him will tell. Thank you very much for your input.

Like I wrote, I hold no stock in what the workers say at chain stores such as Pet Supply / PetCo. would you agree or disagree using pumpkin helps in transitioning when changing foods.

I think it just depends on the dog. I've always switched btwn foods for my dogs w/ no transition and they've never had a single issue. For other dogs, it may help to have some fiber support during transition.

As far as using pumpkin as a daily fiber supplement - nothing wrong with this, just as nothing wrong w/ humans doing it...just depends on whether there is a need for it. If I wanted my dog to have daily fiber, I wouldn't use pumpkin, I'd use Benefiber.

I've read that dogs that have digestive issues when transitioning food can be given chicken & rice (something bland) for a couple of days to help make the transition smoother.

Pumpkin is a great source of fiber, helps firm things up when needed but can have the opposite effects when given too much.
