| Newbie here Hi everyone! I am new here and a new parent to a male yorkie I am being paranoid with my baby's eyes. Seems like the facial hair is irritating his eyes. I already took him to the vet for a face trim but he still seems irritated. I also tried to tie his hair with a bow (as seen in my profile pic). Any suggestions guys for eye-care? Thank you!! ---Boogie baby--- |

| welcome to yt...I'm not sure this would help but I use a doggie safe gel on cedric. His eye hairs go all directions and i put it on (not close to his eyes but the comb help grab all the loose pieces) then top knot him....seems to irritate him less.

| I am not sure I can help, just my story. I have a rescue shih tzu that I adopted 6 yrs ago.. She was matted and had eye ulters in both eyes. She is blind in one eye and limited sight in other. So that being said , make sure u keep the hair around eyes short long hair around or in eyes can cause blindness |

If you just mean the eyes are watering/messy/teary -- this could very well be due to teething, since he's just a puppy. When teething, the eyes can water and appear irritated.

| Thank you so much matese! I was actually worried that his ears wouldn't stand up because when he was still with the breeder his ears weren't that erect. I always massage him at the back of his ears to help his muscles Your dog is a cutie patootie too! <3 |

| I would suggest letting the hair on his face grow out, and NOT trimming it! He's at a great age where his hair can still be trained to lay nicely away from his eyes- the hair on the bridge to grow down and the hair above his eyes to grow back and to the sides AWAY from his eyes. Right now, use a gel to keep the hair laying nicely- it'll grow out before you know it! Also, some pups have eyes that tear up more- my pup does, just like his mama. He's also at an age where he is teething and that can make his eyes tear up more than normal. In the meantime, keep his eyes clean- every day, multiple times if necissary, use a wet washcloth to gently wipe away the gunk and prevent the red yeast that will grow and stain him.
