I figured I would join and introduce myself. I just adopted a Yorkie pup a few weeks ago and I must say I don't know what I heck I am doing. I never had a puppy before (always had adult dogs), let alone a Yorkie puppy, so this forum is very helpful with all its information. All in all things are going well. She finally figured out that she MUST use the outside to do her business and rarely has accidents in the house. Accidents is the key word because she only pees in the house when she is playing (excitement pees), so we have to remind her to go outside. It is kind of like having a toddler learning how to potty train, with all the reminding.
So far it has been a wonderful learning experience being a new momma to my little 4 legged baby. I do fall more and more in love with her everyday and she keeps on surprising with her craziness. I hoping this site will give me the opportunity to give my little on a happy and healthy life.
So here is Maggie

Welcome to you and Maggie. You are right, you have come to the right place to live, breathe, talk, learn about and show off yorkies.

Welcome to Yorkie Talk and congratulations on the new addition to your life. Maggie is precious!
I agree, sounds like you are off to a great start. Play time and anything exciting (for my boys, the doorbell ringing) often requires a potty trip. Also when they first wake up in the morning or from a nap, after meals, and many times in between.
Enjoy your baby girl!

Hello and to YT. "Yorkies For Dummies" is the first one I recommend."Yorkshire Terriers: A Smart Owners Guide" is the second book. These are excellent resource books. And we have a great amount of info here.
She is such a cutie
