I wasn't going to keep one because My mom (who I still live with) Has 4 yorkies. (2 males and 2 females) as well as 2 shelties ( both female) and I was thinking another yorkie would be too much for me. ( I believe they are full blooded yorkie, the lady I got her from had only yorkies, I have newer pics I can post some later ) We did not know she was pregnant until she started showing after she was at my house. We paid to have the tails docked and everything. They have been to the vet twice ( once same day they were born to make sure she had all her puppies, they predicted 5 but she had 4 and they gave her a shot to help with her milk production) and the second time was for the tail docking) We have so many people interested its crazy! I wont be "selling" them, just more so asking for the price of the visit to the vet and tail docking & dew claw removal fee with shots) I am just happy that the mom made it through without any complications! I did stay tuned into the breeder section of yorkie talk for a couple of weeks to make sure I was doing everything right! but Every puppy turned out perfect! I basically adopted her from a friend who "didn't know she was pregnant" *insert eye roll* but has other male yorkies that are still intact. The mom is going to be fixed as soon as she is done with her puppies Basically all costs and fees from the vet are being paid out of pocket of both my mom and I. I didn't expect to make money out if it, I just didn't want to lose any precious puppies or the mom to the stupidity of someone else.

But I can say I am still trying to get them switched fully to dog food.. the only thing they will eat is alpo chunks. I tried science diet, blue buffalo, making my own puppy food.. nothing. any suggestions? I feed them wet food twice a day and puppy ice cream at night before I go to bed, ( I don't want to risk hypoglycemia reactions while I am asleep) and I keep science diet dry food for small breeds in their pen for them and the mom. ( they somewhat eat that as well but they prefer to drag it all around the pen so I have more to clean up when I do my daily cleaning)

oh I see, I misunderstood, I though you must have adopted them from a rescue group and they said you could not keep one. That sure is a lot of dogs you all have, must be a fun household. The puppies are cute, good luck with it all.

So is this one of the females from your post in Decemmber where you had two females in heat and were going insane??

no lol they were fixed as soon as their heat cycle was over. I never wanted to breed. The males also were fixed in Jan. Breeding is not for me. This is exactly the reason why, I get too attached to the puppies to let them go. I also don't have the genetics on my moms yorkies as well as one of those females has a luxating patella (sp) So that automatically took her out of any thought of breeding. As well if you look at my pictures too the other female is too small to breed. ( in my opinion anyways) She is exactly at 5lbs.

Your puppies are beautiful! Heck I had a hard time letting my little mutts go so I can't imagine letting Yorkie pups go. Fostering is very hard for me as I get attached so easy. Puppies jump right into my heart everytime but in order for me to help other dogs in need I have to let them go. I feel for you when you have to hand them over to their new owners. At least you get to keep your wild child! Best of luck and thanks for taking such good care of mom and her pups!

I have taken in a lot of pregnant dogs and cats over the years. It is very difficult to part with the babies after going through the pregnancy, birth, and watching them grow up. Many times I have cried as the new owners come to take them. I remember once a very nice guy came to get a baby for his wife. They were very nice people but I just loved that little baby so much. I cried so hard he offered to leave the babe since I was so upset. I told him no and that I knew I could not keep them all.

I admit to keeping a few over the years but for the most part you have to know how much you can handle and keep the numbers down especially when you intend to continue to help these poor creatures.

If you can afford to keep a puppy and care for it properly then do it. If you don't think you could handle it then find him a good home.
