Reading your posts has me dizzy. Why did you adopt Cody if you didn't want to help the poor dog? You just don't want to spend the money. It's your job to find help for him and I'll bet your vet already begged you and you didn't listen there either.

I think she's referring to those "Ole members" who were members once, but didn't come back because they felt they were driven away. I've read their farewell posts, and I've also received PM's from people who say they don't post any more because of perceived harassment.

Look I do make typo errors, I do not say I am a PERFECT person when it comes to typing lol, I couldn't see the word country, but it was late & I was tired, gave them Bennett of a doubt. Even if a vet is the best in the world, when a dog has a problem and needs to be seen, if he doesn't get seen by that vet (for whatever reason) then it's the same as having no vet at all.

And just another suggestion: IMHO a Urinalysis should be done and blood work rechecked every 6-8 weeks to ensure this pup is able to process needed nutrients from the food he eats. That happens in the intestines, when the intestines are chronically ill for a long time, nutritional deficiencies could result, and this will show up in the blood and/or the urine.

Also at this point in time, a endoscopic exam and biopsy to see and test would be worth doing. And send a stool sample to an off site lab for testing and culture. Off site labs do more thorough testing than can be done in any vet clinic.

Hard for me to respond to people who make these crazy allegations and comments about harrassment. This forum is tame compared to others....and IF a person really does harrass people it is taken care of quickly by admin and mods.

Some of the complaints people have about YT are totally ridiculous. If they post and get responses they don't like then maybe they do need to spend time PMing others who think like them. .. and who will tell them what they WANT to hear rather than what they NEED to hear.

As for vet schools, don't be afraid of going there. Just equate them to teaching hospitals, these resident vets train under a professor who actually is in control of your pets care. Hi Joan, you and I went through this on another thread . My vet is NOT treating Cody for 17 months. Codys prev. owner was hit hard by hurricane sandy, house got flooded, had to evacuate, put dog in shelter for 16 days, picked up dog 16 days later, saw dog had diarrhea. Took dog to “A” vet, vet gave meds. When med was finished dog still has diarrhea, she tells vet, vet tells her NOT TO WORRY ABOUT diarrhea, says it will go away!!!!! (can I really believe a vet would say a thing like this). So dog goes untreated for 12 or 13 months, then she surrenders the dog, does not say dog is sick, I found this out 2 weeks after adopting. Prev. was in touch with the rescue team, said she was concerned about the dog, wanted to know if the adopter would send pics & keep her up-dated about the dog. Rescue gal contacted me, asked would I do this, I said ABSOLUTALLY. I called and that’s how I found all about the dog being medically neglected 12 to 13 months. My FIRST visit to the vet was the day after I adopted him, when I saw diarrhea with mucus & blood, was told bring the dog in. (keep in mind at this time I had not spoken to prev. owner, did not know dog had this 12 / 13 months) vet sent me home with one antibiotic and 2 bottles of ? That would help his digestive system, follow up in 6 weeks, his stool did improve, but was soft like pudding but a little thicker, sticky and still blood in it. On day of follow up I was snowed in, had to cancel, new appt made for 2 weeks away. By this time I had spoken to prev. owner, on SECOND visit I told my vet about 12 / 13 months of no medical care, she sent me home with 2 vials of powder to be sprinkled on food, follow up in 2 weeks, the dog ate his food for 3 days with this powder mixed in with his food, then stopped eating, so I put this powder in greenie pill pockets, he ate it that way, 6 days into this powder his stool went back to being very mushy, I called vet, tells me to stop the powder. On the follow up day mother nature hits us with a ice storm, had to again cancel, appt. made for 2 weeks away. THIRD visit I am told to feed only Hills veterinary prescription Z/D canned and dry dog food that was given to me, feed ¼ cup 3 times a day, no other food, treat nothing but this dog food (he was also on a sublament from first visit, sublament is to help his digestive system) follow up in 2 weeks, that visit was for yesterday, which I had to cancel due to mother nature AGAIN, icy roads, appt. was very early morning hazard travel, appt now for March 25th. So my vet has only seen Cody3 times, 4 months = 17 weeks, deduct 6 weeks for my calculations due to bad weather, that leaves 11 weeks so lets say it’s 3 months, IMO 3 visits to my vet, IMO does not call for me to pull my dog out of the care of my vet to seek a specialist. That is MO. I know everyone will not see this my way, but this is MY CHOICE. I want to be 100% comfortable with the choice I make. I am sorry that all these ppl just cannot understand that you offer advise, give recommendation, suggestions, but let the person make their own decisions and not crucify them because they need time to digest things and try to make a decision. Thank you for your reply, input and concern for cody. AS a PS, Cody has this a total of 17 months, it is not going to be a 1,2,3 fix. Another PS, all member posting regarding vet schools, has shed new light on my views on vet schools, and now I see them as a good thing, Thanks to the nice, polite, members that took the time to explain students have peers over seeing them.

That's all I have to say about that.
As to your pup....bottom line, he has had this issue for 17 months and I feel sorry for him that no one seems to care about finding a diagnosis instead of just tossing out bandaid treatments. Sure, it is your choice...he does not have one. Four months is a long time in a tiny pup's life....so whether you look at 17 or 4, it is very sad for him. I will remind my pups today how fortunate they are to be with me....AND to have a vet who would not treat symptoms for four months without referring them to advanced diagnostics that a specialist can perform.
