| My Presley's hair never grew to the ground. He said gold and black most of his life. As he got older he just went gray.

| MY Simba is the same! He is 10 month old and his hair is black on his back and white and golden on his head . His hair is always Short! He never really needs a haircut on his body. His hair is soft and nice, just short. We plan to keep him its puppy cut anyways, so we are Okay with the length of his hair. We also feed him Royal Canin 28 for Yorkie.

| It seems that the length of the hair may be a genetic issue. As already stated most Yokies do not shed like a normal dog. Their hair grows a lot like human hair and has to be cut in order to stop it from continuing to grow. Do you know if she has a silky or cotton type of coat? I guess a cotton coat tends to be a bit thicker so if that is the case you might pull more hair out of a cotton coat when brushing. If you think it is a lot of hair coming out then you could try combing with a metal grooming comb first. Omega 3 supplements are good for helping promote healthy skin and coat. Some people like Salmon oil while others seem to prefer cocoanut oil. Either one can help. Using an all natural shampoo and conditioner will help keep from drying out the skin and coat. There have been a few questions from people with short haired Yorkies on this forum over the past several months. |
