| Gender preference question.... we are looking at Biewers and have the option of getting a male locally (for less money), or a female (for more money, like more than twice as much) shipped to us The male is not champion sired but there are some in the lines, there has been testing for liver shunts and LP female is champion sired Male looks like he will be on the bigger side, female will be around 6-7 lbs probably Female has more of a baby face, male looks like he may have a bit of a longer muzzle which in general isn't my preference but he is a cutie We were originally looking for a female but LOVE the coloring on the male (dark black on head, spots on back). THE BIGGEST concern I have is housebreaking a male and possibly dealing with marking. Ive had 2 female yorkie (have 1 now) and a male and as our male got a bit older he got lazy and started peeing in the house on cabinets, table legs etc ugh. So, any opinions on having a male biewer? If neutered young do you think the chances of him marking could be reduced? thanks for opinions |

| Max was neutered at 6 months, Teddy between 7 -8 months. Neither marks in the house. I brought Max home at 13 weeks and he instantly took to the piddle pads. Teddy was 8 months when I brought him home and 100% outdoor trained. Although Max was a leg lifter from the start, we have had no problems with potty training. I don't believe one gender is easier than the other. I would choose based on which breeder you trust.

| I have had nothing but females, when my last baby went to rainbow bridge my vet called me to say they just got in a surrendered 2 y/o male, neutered, micro chipped and house broken, I told my vet I would never take a male because of their marking. My vet told me neutered dogs if neutered early before they get in the habit of marking MAY NOT mark. When I went to see the dog the prev. owner turned over a shopping bag of all of his belongings, that also contained his medical history, in the medical folder was the date he was neutered, he was 6 months old. When he makes pee pee he squats lol, so cute, and wonderful for me. Also I never heard of a Biewer, I just googled it, what a beautiful yorkie..... also females any breed are always more $ because you can breed them. I am attaching a pic of what I got from google,I don't know if this is male or female

Lilly, our female over at my dads house, is the worst. She marks on walks, she humps toys inside, AND she has accidents almost every day. LOL... so there's that...

| I have two male dogs- one GSP and one Yorkie. Neither are altered and neither mark in the house, only outside. They are both outside potty only dogs.

| When we only had 1 male dog in the house (and 1 female), there were no issues with marking. When we have visiting male dogs (like for a week or two, not just a day visitor), we tend to have marking issues. We now have a 2nd male dog permanently (a Biewer!) and most of the time there's no marking with the 2. But sometimes, one of them decides to claim ownership and mark. The older male (now 12 and with health issues, including diabetes) is the one who tends to mark the most. Having said that, our little male Biewer is a sweetheart! Great disposition, very loving, and just a joy. He did grow larger than the charts were suggesting, being 11 lbs at 18 mos instead of 6-7 lbs, but we just love him to pieces! Best of luck deciding. |

| Leo is 6 months old, he gets neutered next Thursday. He marks everywhere but in our house. I can't take him to ANY other house without a belly band. I'm hoping that he stops after he's neutered, but ... I picked Leo up when he was 12 weeks old, he is potty trained. He started to lift his leg at 4 months old, and is the only dog I have had that is ambidextrous. In fact, sometimes he walks on his two front legs cause he can't make up his mind which one he wants to lift. My last yorkie-x was a male, he marked but never in anyone's house. My Poodles have both been male and never messed in the house. I say it's a lottery

| Turbo got neutered @ 6 months & Momo got neutered @ a year old. Both are fully trained to go indoors in the designated spot (in the bathrooms) since we live in a condo. They do not mark indoors, I do have water bottles wrapped in pee paper so they can use it as their pee marker. It holds up the pee pad up the wall too. When we're outside, Momo marks everything, even car tires...but Turbo doesn't mark @ all.

| My old girl marks. I would not choose a particular gender with only potty habits in mind. No dog should be neutered very young.

| Both Magnus and Zoey got neutered/spayed around 6 months. Magnus doesn't mark unless he's outside. Zoey... she doesn't mark downstairs but if she gets a chance to go upstairs, she'll TRY to mark. I usually catch her before she can though. |
