When we only had 1 male dog in the house (and 1 female), there were no issues with marking. When we have visiting male dogs (like for a week or two, not just a day visitor), we tend to have marking issues.

We now have a 2nd male dog permanently (a Biewer!) and most of the time there's no marking with the 2. But sometimes, one of them decides to claim ownership and mark. The older male (now 12 and with health issues, including diabetes) is the one who tends to mark the most.

Having said that, our little male Biewer is a sweetheart! Great disposition, very loving, and just a joy. He did grow larger than the charts were suggesting, being 11 lbs at 18 mos instead of 6-7 lbs, but we just love him to pieces!

Best of luck deciding.
