| From black to gold- when? So I know all yorkie pups start out dark. or at least thats what I have been left to believe from research an pictures. My little Athena is no different. I have noticed however that her face i getting lighter and lighter. Both of her parents were completely golden blonde. I can see golden blonde , I guess they would be reverse highlights, peeking out on her head. I was just wondering how long it typically takes for the pups to turn color? Apparently not that long if she is already starting to. |

| Max changed colors for about 2 straight years before his head was completely gold. He went from black to silver on top, to rainbow to gold. Teddy is an oddball and turned white and then turned gold.

| Yes, I think it was a little confusing for people who saw him only periodically.

| Laddy was the same as Teddy. It took almost 2 years for that white to turn gold and his back is still darker on the front half than the back looks like he is wearing a shirt lol. Kyra is 2 and has stayed dark and gold with the footprint up the front of her face. I am beginning to think she will probably stay those colors, but with yorkies who knows. They are like waking up to a new pup every week.

| They can change for years or some keep the dark body's. Like Callie has golden legs and head but her back is really dark.

| I've noticed that with Spike (1 1/2 yr.). We got him @ 6mo. in Apr. 2013. Now his head looks like he's an old man with salt & pepper hair. His legs only had tan up to his elbows & knees, now it's up to his hips & shoulders. It'll be interesting to see what color(s) he finally turns. |

| Izzy is going through a hair change every month. She looked a little funny at about 4 months, her head was starting to look like a skunk with the light hair coming up under her dark hair. I have given up on even trying to guess what color she's going to be next month. |

YT 2000 Club Member | We got Max when he was 1 1/2 and his color has stayed the same since then. Teeka and Tatiana are now over a year so we are still waiting for their coats to transform! Teeka is still very black with some slate gray coming through in areas on her back and she is 1 1/2 years. Tatiana actually has more graying then Teeka and she is a little over 13 months. I think each one is different. I have yorkie cousins and 2 of them had there adult coloring by the time they were 6-8 months old!

| Momo never changed, he stayed Black & Tan. The soft cottony haired ones usu stay blk & tan, their eyes also glow amber in pics w/flash. The silky ones change color on their head @ the roots & their eyes glow green.

Well Athena is suppose to be silky. Both of her parents were. I saw them and they were both completely gold in color. As for what her hair is like now. Its really hard for me to tell. Cottoney from silky from wire. I guess if I got to see one with each kind of hair, then id be able to tell the difference. but right now, im just like I dont know what she has. Its soft....lol ...and I can see the roots are tuning color on top of her head, an her face has been getting more an more of the golden tan color as compared to what it was When I first got her. Her face an top of her head actually have kind of a real pretty marble effect right now because of the lighter roots. Ill see if i can get a good picture of it later. YT 2000 Club Member | Teeka's eyes always have a golden glow when I take her picture and she is really black. I think her coat is silky, though! Max and Tatiana has similar coats and eye color and they are more of a cotton coat or modified. They don't tangle or matte much and they have a wavey coat. I don't know, maybe I have it backwards on their coat types!
