we took her for a check up and they said shes an "early bloomer" and according to her vet she will reach the size of 5+ but in a little more time. he said something about her paws being bigger.

I seriously doubt a vet that goes by a Yorkies paw size, can accurately tell you how large your girl will be! I would go back at least 9 generations in her pedigree, and find out what size puppies the majority of the dams and sires produced. THAT will be a lot more reliable than guessing her size by looking at her pawsw! Your breeder/shower friend that gave you the pup will surely be able to help you with this.

I asked her she said the last 3 generations are 4.5 - 7 pounds and that her grandparents were over 5 pounds. he said that's what happened with her mom she didn't grow as much but then she grew much bigger this could happening to kari.

I just weighed her. shes not 3 pounds!!! that was when we took her to the vet 3 months ago. she was 5 pounds and a quarter. she is 17 centameters tall. that is perfect.. ill go ands test her for genetics and see if she is ggood if she is ill go and breed her at the age of 3-4.

I really think it's best to spay her 3 or 4 is old to have a first litter. Do you even know where to get genetic testing done and about what tests to do?

yes my vet said I can take her in to do exams for her tests. 2 year of age is also a good age for her to litter .

A regular vet does not do this testing......

That's not the kind of testing that should be done prior to breeding.

Look, no matter what anyone says here, you are probably going to do what you want any way. Just be prepared for the possibility of losing your female or some/all of the pups and spending a boatload of money while you are at it.

Kari with all due respect, it doesn't sound to me as if you even know enough about the yorkies or about breeding to safely breed your pup. Granted, I to am new. I just got my first Yorkie, but im not planning on breeding mine nor would I when I know so little about it. I really do apologize for being so blunt, and if I am coming across rude, but sometimes bluntness is needed. I dont think you have a clue of what your doing, so shouldnt be doing it until you do know. For the sake of your pup, I hope you will consider that. Its not fair to her that you breed her just because you want puppies when your not yet properly educated and prepared to do so. It could mean a lot of suffering or death for her.
