| I almost lost my boobah today! Its been a long time since I wrote and I need to write today. As I was taking out a trash bag while I opened the door, Boobah ran out behind me. Unfortunately a tenant was moving out and she left the main entry doors open. Instead of going to the back of the 20-townhouse complex, boobah went to the front. She ran out the main doors and I dropped everything and ran after her like a deer. Today is Sunday and luckily there werent that many drivers on the north and south boulevards. However, boobah ran into the street, she zigzagged and then stopped in the middle island separating the boulevards. I happened to turn my head and saw some youngsters walking up the street. There six and I yelled to them that I would pay 10.00 to the first one that would help me. Boobah was caught in about 20 seconds. One of the young kids ran in the street to corner her. I told him that she didnt bite. Boobah was as scared as i was. I thank God that she is safely back at home. I prayed to God today that I was so thankful that wasnt killed. Lets all watch our precious babies, 24-7 thanks for reading. Gil,Mission Hills, California

| Yes! They can really fly! Have them learn to chase you! My husband and I walk Taffy on his leash outdoors for 3 seasons, and during the Cold Winter he fetches little balls indoors. Now, we live quite a way back from our paved county road, so in the Summertime, my Hubby will drop Taffy's leash and really let him chase his small, yellow tennis balls across the entire side-yard. He just loves to run "flat-out" and return as fast as he can run across the whole yard; after about 10-12 times, he's pooped! The very first time Taffy "got loose" was when my Hubby opened the back kitchen door carrying a box--Taffy zoomed out to see him and ran further out into the back yard. Well, he was not about to come back to either of us, yet...having too much fun! If we moved toward him, he ran in even wider circles. Suddenly, I told Hubby to stop chasing Taffy and come quickly toward the house & toward me. I yelled, "Treat! Treat! Taffy, Treat!" Then, I also ran away toward the kitchen door. Taffy stopped running immediately--because he was getting left behind! My goodness, he charged after us so fast! I threw open the kitchen door, and he zoomed in behind me--looking for his treat bag! I praised him and he got 2 treats! Now, if he gets out of the house, I yell TREAT, TREAT! and run back to the door. He Can't Stand to see me leave him, and he follows just as fast as he can! (Now, if a Squirrel zipped between us, who knows what he would do?) But, I learned that chasing him only makes the situation worse. If I go the opposite way, Calling "TREAT!"- he comes as fast as he can. He scoots in through the kitchen door before I can even get inside! AND HE ALWAYS GETS 2 FAVORITE TREATS for following me! (No scolding!!) **I took Taffy to 2 basic obedience classes. The instructor would hold each of our pups (Taffy was 8 months old) and then, the instructor had us call our own dogs one at a time. Taffy would come flying to me. She said, "You are very lucky that he has bonded to you so well." Perhaps that is why he follows easily when I run away since I always feed, bathe, and let him sleep on side of my bed. |

| Isn't that the most helpless feeling when you see your furbaby zooming toward danger and know that you are not fast enough to catch them? Thats a feeling I will never forget! So glad you had a happy ending!

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | So glad your outcome was positive, I know that feeling. Crystal was off her lead on a deserted beach, as she always came to me as we went up the steps to the Promenade. This particular day, a garbage collection truck suddenly appeared, with its top light flashing and just as she reached the point of ascendancy. Scared by this monster, she bolted, covering 200 yards towards the road! Fortunately a kindly soul intervened and diverted her attention until I could catch up. I lived out every horror possible in those few seconds of prolapse I can tell you. Ever since she has had a 20m flexi-lead, it was my fault of course. The relief of clutching her to my chest was a wonderful feeling... |

| Wow what an ordeal for you & Boobah! So glad she's safe & nobody got hurt. We also live in a gated condo, but it's much like an apt w/hallways & elevator lobby. I still have a front door barrier so they don't run out, even if it's a hassle for us humans. They're used to having the barrier there & won't run out the front door, but I still have it there for peace of mind. Who knows if they'll bolt out the door bc they heard a squirrel or something. We had a huge adult hawk land on our patio, so I do not want them out there alone for any length of time. I use the small pet (hamster, rabbit 15" high ex-pen) so it's low enough to cross over. Set it up like a gate & have their water bottle hanging from it too. I swing it open if I need to bring in the grocery cart or whatever. Hope you'll find something that is both friendly for humans & keeps the doggies inside!

| I'm so glad you got her back safely. I'll bet your scared little dog would have run to those kids if you had asked them to call her. These little ones usually love to meet new kids. When Gracie was a puppy she used to rush the door when someone would open it. She got out on 3 different occasions. We live quite a way from the main road but for some reason every time she got out she would head right up toward the road. Thankfully we always got her back before she got to it but it took some fast running to catch up with her tiny little legs that seemed to enable her to fly! Now she has been taught that she has to sit far back from the door when it is opened. I couldn't take another heart stopping episode like that! |

| so nice to hear happy endings today, thanks for sharing all that everyone. I'm super happy your furbaby is safe and sound. They are quick little buggers arent' they? My little Joey has been trained to know if I whistle he's getting a super yum treat. He only gets that particular one when I whistle. All ya see is a blur of fur as he's running to get that LOL |
