Don't put off that vet visit PLEASE

So very happy that Jada is and will be alright. Good on you for actioning right away!

Two points to Jada's story I'd like to emphasize - 1) Even if you don't have an appt I too just show up at the earliest opening hour - they will see you if it is an emergency! 2) If it is late in their business day - many vets will wait there to see you.

Wow who would have thought a Green Bean stalk. I am so glad that Jada is doing well and she is going to be OK. You are so correct, if something seems off, get to the Vet right away.

I didn't panic and I knew it wasn't an emergency but was at the vet office when they opened at 8am Friday. Her vet and I both thought it was a tooth because she has horrible teeth. He opened her mouth and said Oh My it looks like one of her molars is broken and there is a lot of infection.
He sedated her and low and behold it wasn't her tooth. She loves frozen green beans and it was one of those hard stalks that are sometimes in the bag of beans. I am not sure if its one I missed or her Daddy. She had chewed on it and it had hard ragged edges and it was wedged in her tooth and had shredded gum tissue and tissue under her tongue. If I had waited the infection would have most likely spread throughout her system.
Moral of the story...if your baby is acting strange take them to the vet.

ps..she lost almost 6ozs during this ordeal which is a lot on a 5lb 8oz dog in a 3 day period.

Indeed....thank goodness you did. I would rather spend $50 for a visit to find out nothing is wrong than to wait and lose a pup or have a very, very sick one that ends up needing much more in vetting than would have needed. So glad that little Jada is ok!!

Oh my!!! So glad she is ok! I give my boys frozen green beans all the time. I'll have to remember to be super aware! YIKES! Your sweet girl, so glad she is feeling sassy again!

Kristen, Jada has had a couple of episodes of choking one where I had to rush her to our vet. We thought at first that's what had happened because her voice was so raspy. She has never chewed her food and slow feed bowls don't help. Her kibble gets ground to coffee ground consistency and mixed with hot water since that last choking episode.

Great catch!! The only way our babies can communicate with us is by their actions. Whenever they start acting "out of character", I start looking for the problem, because it IS there....and if I cant figure it out, vet visit!!!
