| A Yorkie and Kitty lover! So glad I found this website. So many questions about my 11 week, 2lb, Yorkie named Ivy! We also have cats and that was my biggest worry about getting such a little dog. Would they think she was a Squirrel snack or what. I personally think it's going very well. My only problem is that she likes to dig and hide things and a GREAT place to do that, is in the kitty litter. Any advice, besides putting the litter up higher (which is tough to do) on how to keep her out of it? We already put the kitty food up high. Thanks |

| We have 3 cats and 3 dogs. The only way I've been able to keep the litter boxes safe from the pups but accessible to the cats is with baby gates. The main litter box is in my kids' bathroom. Fortunately they are both tall and just step over the gate. It's not unusual to have all 3 pups lined up in front of the bathroom trying to figure out how to get in (or to just bug the cats). Welcome to YT!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | When we first got Wylie, my beloved cat was still with us (RIP Einstein). Like you, the main thing we had to worry about was keeping the cat litter elevated somehow bc Wylie wanted to eat the "kitty brownies" - UGH so gross! We kept the litter in a closet, and only allowed the closet to open enough so that Einstein could squeeze in there. Another option would be to elevate it w/ cinder blocks or something.

| We have a baby gate going to our bathroom from our bedroom, and another from our living room, to the other 3 bedrooms. We have 3 cats, 1 is mine and my wife's, the other 2 belong to my oldest son. Another option is a box that the cat jumps up into and steps down to a level above the litter box, then steps down to it, then they go back the way they came in, it had the added benefit of keeping the litter on their paws from coming out on the floor. I don't remember which Co. made it, but it was a very nice solution, and you can probably find them still. Cheers Quad & Gina

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Hello and welcome to YT. I have 1 Biewer and 4 kitties. Galen had found the box. He thought there was snacks there. I put up a gate so he can not get at it.

| Ok my iPad is all charged up :-) here is the litter box cabinet I got :-) I got the walnut one and its super nice. Gizmo pays no attention to it as they treat the wood inside to kill odor, so no stinky litter box :-) Rakuten.com - Cat Supplies Cat Washroom Litter Box Cover - Walnut |
