| ![]() Both of mine will park their little buts right in front of me and just stare until I stand up then head for the door. If I wait to long Laddy will jump on my lap and run up my chest to lick me in the face.

| ![]() Toki will ring the jingle bells by our front door...Teddy will just obnoxiously growl and try to crawl on top of you. |

| ![]() not wanting to encouraging barking I hung a ribbon with jingle bells on the end and Lola rings them when she has to go potty. Our house has three stories so this works well as I would not see her sitting by the door.

| ![]() It was mentioned that I try the bell thing a long time ago. I never did. How long did it take for you guys who use bells to train them to use them? |

| ![]() I watched the video, we did it a little different, Lola did not know any tricks at the time. Each time we went out I would ring the bell and say lola go potty, Lola go potty. after about three days of doing this myself, I started lightly lifting her paw to the bell, after about two days, I started moving her paw to ring the bell, always saying Lola go potty, Lola go potty. Of course each time she went potty there were treats and praise. Finally after about a week she did it herself. I only have her to do this to go potty, if we go out to play or for a walk it's through a different door and no bells are involved. I do not want to get to the point that she rings it just to go out and play. So bells, leash, and out the front door, means potty only and we do this quick, it's out on a short leash, I never let her walk me around and we come right back in afterwards. In the summer, we often head right back out but through another door for a walk, but I Like to take her out first so she does her business at home. Lola went through a phase of ringing the bells for the heck of it, but I got wise pretty to that pretty soon so I started wrapping them up after we would come back in for a few hours. Now they are down all the time and since she knows ringing the bells only means potty (no fun playing) she only rings them when she has to go. Another reason I like the bells is when I travel to visit family I bring a set along, as soon as Lola sees where the bells are hung you can almost see relief like yeah I know where to go when I need to potty. Good luck with the training.

| ![]() My boys are pad and outdoor trained, but they prefer to go outdoors to poop. To tell me they want to go walking, they will stare me down with longing eyes, perform sits, or dance around me. If they have to go on the pad, they will come to me and get my attention in a variety of ways. Teddy wants to be held for a minute. Max will stand up next to my chair and paw at my leg.

| ![]() Heidi does the staring thing. She is puppy pad trained, so when I'm not home she goes by herself, but when I'm home she stands in the hall staring and trying to get me to follow her into the room that has the puppy pad. She insists I come and watch... ![]() Anytime she wants something I get the long stare. If that fails, out comes the paw.

| ![]() Since we are both retired Amy usually gets up in my husband's face and licks his nose. If that doesn't work she will start talking to both of us by running back in forth from him to me. Really works quite well. She taught herself that right when I thought there was no help in training her. |

| ![]() Keno has always came and sat down in front of me and either stared or growled if the stare does not work. At night he gets in my face and does a little growl, thankfully that is not a regular occurence. He has been completely trained to outside since he was five months. He expects a treat each time, and you best not try and forget, that is when he gets in your face and does the BARK. He likes everything to run on schedule, breakfast at 7 am dinner at 5 pm and Mom in the kitchen cooking at 6 pm so Dad can give him handouts. If you vary from this he gets in my face and gives me the BARK, it is his Bossy Bark. |

| ![]() I have always taken Gracie out at regular intervals. I think that is part of the reason her potty training was so successful. She is quite aware of when I am supposed to take her out and will let me know with a bark if I have gone too far over the limit. She thinks she can talk anyway so that is just one of her comments. |
