| My Rocky Acts Like A Bully Hello everyone. I am having a small problem. I adopted a 5 year old shih tzu named Kirby from our local shelter and have had him for almost a year. He is a very sweet and calm dog. About 7 months ago we added a 5 month old yorkie named Rocky. As Rocky has gotten older he picks on Kirby and on our cat named Fritz. Oh I forgot to mention our 2 year old cat. Rocky also bullies any other dog he is around. I have been thinking it is his way of asserting his dominance over the larger dogs, but I would love to stop him from doing it. I have tried putting him in time out by separating him from everyone else but that only seems to give him time to regroup. I love all of them and have no intention of letting either one of them go. Just need a little help. Any and all suggestions accepted. Thanks.

| If you find out the magic potion for this PLEASE share with me.. I have a male that was so dosile until I brought in another male and now it is pure heck here at my home. I cannot have all them in the same room together with me in there. If I am not in there with them they sleep together.. Go figure.. Makes no sense to me... |

| Rocky and Kirby have those moments as well when they are quiet and asleep in the same bed. I don't know and can't figure out for the life of me why it changes and they begin to fight. I do really hope there is an answer out there that is forthcoming because it gets really noisy sometimes.

| Learning how to give him basic obedience training is the only thing that is going to help you with Rocky. He has learned he can have his way and no dog should be allowed to run the show. All dogs can learn how to sit, down, and stay on command. Also the word "NO" is a necessity for a dog to learn and obey. Teaching these activities with lots of encouragement, love, and treats can make the session fun and speed up the process. You may have to keep Rocky on a training lead around the house so you can give him a quick correction whenever he tries his bullying tactics. If he is not neutered you should consider having that done as soon as possible. Your home will be a lot more peaceful and your other pets will be able to rest once Rocky has become an obedient dog. |
