| ![]() She'll do great, I would suggest some preemie onesies for her to wear while she still has the stitches. Gina's incision, doesn't look like it was done 14 days ago, she wore the onesies until 3 days ago, when the tiny holes from the stitches were closed. Good luck, and please give her the pain meds the Vet gives you, you would take any pain meds, after you had surgery, so don't deny your pup the same. They will be an anti-inflamatory, and will help with the recovery. Cheers Quad & Gina ![]()

| ![]() Just had stitches out last Friday from my baby . She is 6 months and barely 3 lbs. I laid in bed with her For 2 days cause that is all she wanted was my skin....and it was a good way to hold still.... First day was the toughest.. She smelled so bad....my vet said try to get something in her stomach but just a bit like a half tsp every hour for 4 hours then go from there. She still threw up , I gave her chicken and rice, so then I tried canned pumkin and she loved it , it stayed down and then I went to the chicken and Rice and next day kibble. You can tell when they start feeling better to increase portions.I would try the pumkin first to calm down the stomach... But that first day she didn't even know me ![]() I did the onesie too..... Other wards try and keep busy that day, time will fly and you can go get her and baby her like crazy! Good luck! |

| ![]() It was a tough two weeks for Cookie, as she didn't like her onesie and didn't like being cooped up unable to jump. That first day Cookie puked up everything I fed her, so I was keeping really close tabs on how her gums looked (you always want a nice healthy pink; white is an emergency!). I gave her ice cubes to get some water into her, as my vet recommended them and said if she laps a bunch of water at once she'd probably puke it back up. He didn't give us any pain meds, and Cookie never looked like she needed them. When I first brought her home she was really trying to fight the anesthesia and would just stand still with her head down. After about 30 minutes she finally laid down and relaxed, and slept a lot that day and the next. She really wanted to sleep on top of my blanket and nowhere else. She did puke up her dinner the second day too, but she was ok other than that. By day 3 she was really herself again, and kept begging to go outside to play and run (of course, I listened to the vet and not to the yorkie, haha).

| ![]() First of all,I hope your little one does well with the surgery. I just went through this as well.My little Molly is 6 months and we had her spayed yesterday. She also was microchipped and had a few teeth removed. She was very groggy last night and just slept very close to me in my bed. We went to bed about 8:30. This was shortly after I gave her something to eat and drink. They told me I could give her a small amount of wet food and a little water. Thankfully she didn't get sick on me. She's ate a little more today and is holding it down fine. She's wanting to play so badly but I don't want her to hurt herself. They gave me pain meds to do her for a few days. I'm hoping she doesn't think that she can run full force like she's use to. She's wanted to lick her incision a couple of times as well and I have to divert her attention. I took my weeks vacation to stay home with her but I'm worried about her trying to lick at it next week when I go back to work. I saw everyone mention onesies but I'm not sure how she would do with those. I bought her some pjs and she did not like them at all. Any suggestions on getting her to handle the pjs a little better or should I try something else to keep her away from the incision. |

| ![]() Keep trying the pjs but leave them on for short periods of time , she will get used to them .try the aloe Vera gel , it s a skin soother and will help comfort that area, it worked for me. |

| ![]() Glad everything went well for you Zoey and thank you for the tips about the pumpkin and the aloe vera. Abby goes Thursday for her spay and to have some teeth removed. They will keep her overnight and I took the day off on Friday to stay with her. Last edited by Bobswench; 11-19-2013 at 12:51 PM. |

| ![]() Thanks for all your support and advice. I'm pretty nervous. I have 3 other dogs and 2 that passed on. All were/are spayed. I'm just worried because she seems so small. She's not real tiny, she's 6.8lbs. And I love and trust our vet. Just a worried momma.

| ![]() Another future teapot? My Cookie Monster is 6.5 lbs and should be ready to join the teapot club sometime in the next couple of months. All she has wanted to do since getting the stitches out is go play in the yard.
