Tough Subject This is something I find very hard to talk about to anyone, but I've caught abi eating her own poop. I started giving her deter tablets 2 weeks ago, one to two everyday. I thought that did the trick, but today I caught her again, and it just makes me so sick. She is so perfect in everyway, I just don't understand why she does this. We pick it up right away if we are home, she is very good about going on the paper, she is 4 months old. I tell her no in a firm voice when I am getting a napkin to pick it up, but sometimes she is just too fast. Please help with any suggestions, the vet told me she will probably grow out of it. Thanks

Oh thats pretty normal! Very good dogfood has that effect! Its disturbing I know! But there is very little waste in excellent dogfood. Dogs in general dont know any better, so they eat poop. Especially if its another dogs!

Lmao! Yeah it is pretty gross, but sometimes I think some of us forgot our yorkies are DOGS! That's right your (and my) little precious do belong to the canine family and well sometimes dogs eat poop. Growing up as a kid we had some dogs that thought the cats litter box was a doggie buffet . Of course we did try to stop them but well... it's a dogs life. Abi's momI'm not saying this is you so please don't take offence and I understand your concern. BUT.. some yorkie and other toy owners sometimes forget that what they have is a dog and not a barbie dress up kit Especially true to the yorkie as it is a terrier. Sometimes I wish they would take the yorkie out of the toy group and put it with the other terriers where it belongs. Yorkies are just smaller than other terriers and that's the ONLY difference. Sorry to go off on a tad of a rant Abi's mom nad I hope someone here gives you some good advice. Heh, my sisters yorkie does it to!

I have read that giving a tiny bit of pineapple juice with the food will make it "less appitizing" when it comes out the other end. People on some other boards I belong to have had great success with this. Paris also had this treasure of a habit...unfortunately I didn't know about the pineapple until after she finally outgrew it. Now she sniff it and runs away like it's going to attack her.

pup It is a puppy thing as others have said. My vet actual said, to a dog it is just as tasty when it comes out as it went in..hard to believe huh? I have seem pups gag, spit and spurter after a dose of flavored medication..how can they stand their own stool? I beef up the diet just a touch for a few weeks...a bit of cottage cheese or shredded american cheese, few pieces of minced chicken in the dry food..not enough so they can pick it out..maybe it an old breeders tale, but I think something can be lacking in the diet..body needs something...what I do not know. My pups stop when I add extra. You can spray Bitter Apple on the stool..that worked with Doxie we had. Of course, you have to leave it on the weewee pads for a few hours..not always do-able.

| My puppy did this and he just stopped after about three weeks. So he may stop on his own.

ive seen mother dogs do this to clean up after their pups, so it may be a combination of taste/cleaning for the most part, dogs dont much like to "mess" their place.
