The pet shop I go to has a product called Quackers. It is breast of duck that is dried, like jerky. He loves these things. They are not really chewy though,more like a treat. Dudley is 4.5 pounds and eats one in about 3 minutes.

Do Bully sticks stink? Greasy? Do they last?

yes bully sticks do stink real bad, but the smell goes away... they are not greasy, lexi eats them all over the house, and they last and last and last.
their jaws get so tired from constant biting and they stop.

My yorkie loves them too! The only thing is she loves to chew and these things don't last but a few minutes. Is there anything out there- that takes a while to chew, doesn't smell, is digestible, and is not high in fat. Anything!

The only things our 2 Yorkies get are tough Nylabone products - bones & also the Nylabone "keys".

NO pig ears, no rawhide, no Greenies, no Dental Chews.

I threw away a whole bunch of things after I got on the site & started reading. Wasting money? I don't think so - I look at it as saving my Yorkies life! We love them too much to even take a chance.

Aren't bully sticks and cow hooves are made of rawhide?

You can put ice in their water, give them a carrot, freeze a Kong with something in it, massage their tummy and their gums.

Well, I threw out the greenies and dental chews and now just do bully sticks and the edible flavored nylabones. The bully stick stink goes away and there was a post on here about ones that don't stink. I have had 1 bully stick now for a month or more and it is still in good shape. My pup was very possessive of it at first but not so much now. In fact she was so so possessive I almost took it away for good. I did take it away for a week and she cried for it cause she knew it was up on the counter but now she is better about it. She loves it but puts it down where at first, you couldn't get it away from her. good luck with whatever you decide

Thanks everyone!! Sounds like bully sticks and cow hooves are the big winners here. I really do need something that would last a bit since my little one is pretty powerful when it comes to chewing. I am gonna try them out for sure. We will just deal with the smelly part.

buy cow hooves by bulk for my 'beavers'..lolol..Now I see how they get their name..lolol

Having 12 that enjoy chewing I had to find something was safe yet not messy or smelly cuz they sleep in bed. Cow Hooves are the best. But there are some tricks to them.

1. Only buy them in bulk so you can chose the lighted colored ones. The black hooves REEK when wet. The lighted/yellow colored ones do not.
2. BOIL them in a pot on the stove BEFORE you give them to your baby. Who knows where they came from.
3. When they dry out, feel all around the hoof to make sure there are NO hang nails or pieces sticking out. If so, peel or cut it off.
4. Offer them to your baby and you'll be amazed how much they love them and they last forever.

(Shut out to my mom (Thanks Mom!)who taught me these secrets, she gave them to her Rotties)

They are not greasy or messy.

**Note: when they get small; just a little too big to fit in your furbabies mouth. Pitch'em and get fresh one to avoid the possibility of choking.**

***Caution!!*** Make sure you pick them up before bed and put them away. They hurt like HE&@!! if you step on them in the middle of the night

I picked one up at PetSmart and it was so oily feeling, I couldn't imagine Tucker dragging it around the house. So, I didn't get it.

Which one is "so oily feeling"? The bully sticks or cow hooves? I haven't got around to check it out yet.

After finding out EXACTLY what bully sticks were, my husband refused to allow them in the house for any of our pets to chew on.... and I would have to agree. EWWWW.

Petsmart sells sterilized bones - most are prestuffed with a peanut buttery filling, or beef. They are individually wrapped and sell for about $4.99 each. These things last for months with a German Shephard and Rottie. I can see them lasting for a year or more with a Yorkie. I buy two of the peanut buttery ones - one for Cinamin and one for Matthias. I have to keep them seperated because Cinamin is very picky - if another dog even breathes on her food or bones, she wont' touch it. Anyway, these bones are great! I highly recommend them!

Here is a link to one on the Petsmart website - this one is mint flavored filled for that fresh breath feeling! heheheh Cinamin didn't like that so we stuck with the peanut butter (the beef juices stain carpet).
