I'd guess they'd chew less with the baby teeth removed. |
Megan had to use pain meds a couple of times in her life, never changed her temperament at all. Gina will take at least the 1st 2 doses, I'm a chronic pain patient, and know that easing it for her the 1st 2 days will make it easier on her. Cheers Quad & Gina:aimeeyork |
Lol I better back up.....how old are you?. Lol I'm 60 so that explains it......they used to say spaying changes them cause you take their hormones away and we know (at my age) what that does to US! I didn't mean th e pain meds ...sorry |
I'm 44, but I've never seen a temperament change in any of the dogs I've had, and I've always had females. Cheers Quad & Gina:aimeeyork |
Good Musta been an old wives tale:) |
Cook just had her first poop since the spay, and it looked like it was quite a bit more effort than normal. She had to eat it out her butt before I could stop her lol (gross I know, too much information probably!) I imagine the pooping has to be tough that first couple of days since they probably use some of the same muscles that just got cut into. :( |
Well crap, Cookie peed her bed and never whined to go out. She has never done this before, not even when we first brought her home at 14 weeks. It was all over her bathing suit, so it had soaked into it including all over the spay wound. Now all she wants to do is lick herself since she is covered in pee, and I don't know if it's more important to clean the wound or to keep it dry. I'm guessing the latter, but I'll call my vet in a few hours when his office opens to confirm. Can't believe I didn't think to ask him this question before. |
My vet said to not touch the stitches with a baby wipe or alcohol wipe, and that a little pee is no big deal. |
Try pumkin Canned pumkin helps stomach upset and puts out moist yet firm poop. Found that out this morning....I was surprised when she wolfed down her Orijen I had per soaked about half the amount she usually eats for first doggy food meal. Zoey peed too on bed bankee last night so that was my cue she needed a more confined area , so in her crate with cave bed she went and slept all nite beside my bed. Only one whimper I offered a pee to pads and she wouldn't budge so I gave her another favorite blankee and she slept till 9 . Up till now to go back down for a nap.wants to lick.... I just called my vet too and asked time frame on a bath, knowing it wasn't going to be none to soon and they said after stitches are out! Yikes that's 10 days! Poor pewy little thing, it's sponge baths and scented detangler spray for her. But right now she just likes eyes washed out and stinky beard washed. Vet also said instead of using neosporin , which she might lick, use 100% aloe Vera gel on stitches . |
Maybe you could take a washrag and wet it in sink with warm water and a little doggy shampoo , wring it out good and dab at the worst parts like feet , face, of courses, that's in every thing, lol.... Does she seem not to want to lay down? They need to, to heal, try confining in a comfortable place and offer to pee every hour.its rest rest rest.... |

I have her confined in my bedroom and she sleeps in a cage with a nice comfortable and thick bed under her. I also keep her crate in here, since she likes to go nap in there sometimes too (dogs seem to love confined spaces for some reason). |
They feel safe, especially if its the same place they were when they were first brought home..... Everything ok now? |

Gina had her first poo last night around 10:30 to 11:00, she\'s been chasing the cat, wants to play fetch, and everything else she did before the spaying. Just looking at her you\'d never know that she was done yesterday. I\'ve had to confine her to her x-pen, because she keeps jumping up on the back of the couch, when she\'s sitting with me, and now she\'s giving me the sad eyes, hoping I\'ll let her back out. Her stitches look great, no redness or swelling, and her gums are nice and pink, she\'s doing great. Cheers Quad & Gina:aimeeyork |
So glad to hear that all pups are doing good! My 11 mo. old goes in tomorrow for evaluation and blood work to see if she\'s ready and able to be spayed and baby teeth pulled on Friday. I choose the weekend so that I can be with her around the clock and then next week I will stay home with her a few days. I am extremely nervous!!!!!! Not looking forwarding to this at all! |
