| How much do you feed Your yorkies? I feed jasmin twice a day, 1/8 cup of wet food mix with 1/8 cup of dry food at each meal. She is 1.4 yrs old and weighs 8 lbs. I think this is enough but she is always acting like I didn't feed her enough and will lick and lick her bowl.

Try getting some good Dry like Wellness Super5 Adult Small Bites, and put a cup full in a bowl out for her 24/7. I've found that with my (big) guys, that they don't gobble, but just snack through the day. If you're concerned about weight gain, that's better controlled through good regular exercise, rather than Diet.

| I am feeding canine caviar dry food mixed with cornucopia wet food. Jasmin is very active and on the thin side. I will add more wet food to her bowl. I could also leave out dry kibbles for her but only problem is Jasmin will not touch her dry kibbles unless the wet fodd is mix in. She does get a little banana and carrot as treats throughout the day.

| Even if you are feeding her per the food instructions, this is only a guideline. Since she's very active and on the thin side, she should be fed more. Also, if you leave out dry kibble for her to have as extra, she will eat if she's hungry enough. Her body will be her guide.

| Toki is a little over 2 years old and 8 pounds just like your pup. She gets a little less than 1/4 cup of kibble at a meal or if I mix it with wet food, she'll get a couple tablespoons of kibble with a couple heaping tablespoons of wet food so it's pretty similar to what you are feeding Jasmin. For Toki's activity level, this is what we have found to be the right amount of food for her to maintain her weight. I guess if she was acting starved after meals, I'd supplement with frozen green beans, steamed butternut squash or something similar. My other pup Teddy is about a year old and a little over 9 pounds. He gets a little more than 1/2 cup of kibble each day and is maintaining his weight perfectly. If your pup's body condition, weight, and energy level are good and she doesn't have a protruding spine and hips, I wouldn't be so concerned about underfeeding. If I kept feeding Toki more food or increasing her portions because she was acting "hungry" or licking her bowl after meals, she would eat so much that she'd pop and would definitely be overweight which would put stress on her joints. We are so careful about her weight because of knee/hip issues. I'd definitely look into adding things like steamed or frozen veggies. The volume and fiber will help your pup feel fuller for minimal calories. |

| That's how Billi is, so I leave her food out constantly. I'll fix her special meals and leave those out for about an hour, but she never eats it quick enough.

| Simba eats about 1/2 cups of dry food a day. I feed him about 3 to 4 times a day. Sometimes he can go up to 3/4 cup. Just can't resist his look saying Mommy I want more food...

| The wet food recommended amount is 6 tablespoons for 10-15lbs. Majority of people I know on thus wet food don't mix in dry food with it. I gave jasmin 1/4 cup of dry mix with1/4 wet. She still licks the bowl. I think she is just in love with her wet food.

YT 2000 Club Member | dog I measure out about 3/4 cup of Wellness Super 5 Complete Health for JoJo and the same amount for Spud. I mix in just a bite or two of Wellness canned chicken. They love it. I give them some in the am, some for lunch and the rest is dinner. Since they are small breed, I think they need some food in their tummies 3 times a day. They didn't like the Wellness Healthy Weight as much as the Wellness Complete Health. I do believe the Wellness food is very good. Their stools are not squishy like on Blue Buffalo. |

Actually, those "specials" are daily for us. I have four bowls for that, and it's usually the (meat) scraps and extra veggies which we don't consume during the dinner meal. With four rather robust animals (5, 8, 9 & 13 lbs) it's that one better not blink, or what he was eating will be stolen by a very quick pass over his bowl by another. That "gobbling" is (by their own choice) is limited to that event... Once that is finished, my guys go back to their normal consumption rates, which are spread individually out through the day, and there's no gobbling/resource issues at all. I find that leaving food out for them 24/7 is a blessing (for me)... It's SO much easier than delving it out at a certain time/amount. IMHO, either is a habit which "we" create for them, and with a bit of restraint on our part (being firm about it) can change their desire for those "special/rather expensive" meals, to a diet which they control, not us. Many think that Dry is not adequate for their needs... That's not so, besides the Wellness I mentioned, there are several very healthy Dry Foods available, which meet out guys dietary needs quite well. I do one thing for my guys, which not many do... I leave three different types of food out (in separate bowls) for them 24/7. I have a bowl each of Wellness, Beneful and Purina, and with their normal consumption, have to fill (about 2 cups) one of those bowls up about once a day. Remember, that's with 4 animals eating. They seem to really enjoy the variety (beef/fish/foul) which is available. One other thing that contributes greatly to their general health... My guys are XXActive. We go out for a jog/hunt along the Bayou every day. They run/chase prey at top speed, and run from observation points on the second floor of the house, all the way out to the end of our property (via a Doggy Door) many times a day, to "protect" their territory from intruders like the Mail Man, or vicious stray Cats or a Possum or two. I allow them to eat "Raw" too, but, insist they catch it themselves
