| What can I do about this??? Please help with suggestions. Ok, my Harley is such a good boy in everyway, he was potty trained very early and has such a sweet desposition. But....... when ever someone comes over he gets so excited, he wants to jump up on them and lick lick lick, and he does this almost the whole time they are here. It is usually just me and him and I let him lick me all the time (love those yorkie kisses) but you can tell that other people don't want that and I don't blame them. I tell him NO NO and sometimes get the paper, which I never hit, but it does scare him, just the sound but that doesn't work either. I even tried the water bottle thingy and he doesn't settle down long enough for me to spray him. I love him to death, he is so good in every other way but when company comes it is like a carnaval. Any suggestions would be great. I don't want people to hate to come over because they are thinking of him jumping on them all the time. PLEASE HELP. I love him so much and I want others to love him too. Thanks!

| Besitos It's funny that you say that people don't like to get licked. I have to admit, I too used to be like that. Until I got my little Baby, I didn't like it either. Now I got to PetSmart and let all the doggies lick me. Guess I'm in love!! So you have to tell your friends to get some Yorkies! That should solve the problem! PS. I do NOT let Baby lick my face after she has eaten her poop. I wait awhile!

YT 5000 Club Member | I definitely don't have any advice for you on this b/c Gidget still acts like that too! If I don't want her jumping up on anyone I have to hold her! Good luck in finding something that works!

| LOL that is too funny Nicole, people that don't have the love like we do for animals find it irratating, he just loves people and is a lovebug. Its not like he is biting or growling at them. I have even told one of my sons, because he said he hated Harley licking his face all the time, I told him "then go home, cause this is Harleys house" I felt terrible that I said that but it is true right? I just don't want people to think he is a bug-a-boo, he minds me with everything else. His tail is going the whole time people are here, jumping up on the couch while they are trying to talk to me and jumping in thier laps and licking thier faces. I feel like sometimes I should put him in his crate and I don't want to do that. I would never hit him either especially when he just wants kisses.

| I can totally relate!! My Nikko is the same way. He is so pushy, he doesn't realize not everyone likes to be given a bath by him!! He is really a sweet boy (maybe its just a boy yorkie thing) and he pretty much wants to lick everyone to death. I feel bad yelling at him about it because he is only being sweet but as you said, not everyone appreciates that. If you find a way of stopping this behavior, let me know because I am totally confused about it myself.

| You might try shaking a can with change in it. My dogs dont lick but they jump up and down and act all crazy like. We either spray them with the water bottle or shake a can with change in it.

| We do the same thing when they bark excessively and it works.

| I am wondering if you might try spraying one of the deterrents, none come to mind except coat saver or bitter apple on your hands and when he starts his licking quickly put your hand between his licker and the person and do a corrective command..I have done that for other things BUT, ya gotta remember to wash your hands well before you touch food. It really tastes yucky! Tells you how dumb I was when I used it the first time...LOL |

| I know you love your Yorkie giving you kissies, but it sounds to me if you want him to stop kissing other people then you need to be consistant every way around. You can't expect him to know its okay to give you kissies but not everyone else, thats confusing. So you either need to shut down on ALL the kisses or tell people to get used to it I would vote for the latter.

| I guess you are right about the kisses, my last yorkie kissed me but he never bothered anybody else. He was different. This one wants kisses from everybody. So if I have to make that decision, then people can stay away cause I can't do without those kisses.
