| That is interesting, but IMO too little too late. I have taken the stand not to give my pups any treats, except homemade, and their #1 treat is their frozen green beans.

| Not all of the chicken, beef, etc treats are from china. I give Billi venison & lamb jerky from The Real Meat Co and their meats are all from USA, Austrailia and New Zealand. If anyone's interested in giving their little one's jerky treats, I highly recommend this brand. Billi & Teeny go apes-crazy (lol) over them.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | It's making the regular news now, too. That's a good thing and will hopefully protect more dogs. Jerky treat mystery: Nearly 600 pets dead; still no source, FDA says - NBC News.com

| Just awful. I never buy anything made in China - no food, no toys. I'll happily take the extra expense to keep Rocco safe. That said, Trader Joe's has wonderful chicken jerky treats made in the USA. Rocco loves them, and they are very reasonably priced.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Thank you for posting this, Taylor! I don't get out much so the DH gets most of their treats. Ive been educating him on what ive learned here. He now knows if its made in China, don't buy it because I will trash it. Seriously, he knows its dangerous.

| I only buy American made treats. I always read the whole back of the packages for where they are made, and the ingredients they are made with, as Gizmo is very sensitive to chicken and other ingredients. |

| Lots of news about investigating jerky treats on the Today Show this morning, and on our local news. Finally it is getting national attention. I am surprised that sweet potato treats are also involved.

| As I commented on another thread, american-made does not always mean american-sourced ingredients. It also says nothing as to manufacturing or quality control, formulation of the item in question, nor does it speak to farming (meat or plant) practices or ethics. I suppose each person has to decide what matters most to them, but I see more and more advertising and marketing plays to these types of things that are perceived to matter to consumers.
