| Shopping and such with your Yorkie Just wondering if any of you regularly take your babies to the grocery store, mall, etc. in a discreet carrier/purse? Have you ever got caught or told about it in a negative way? I'm generally not a rule breaker, but I'd really like to bring my buddy (Tess) along with me, and I think she'd like to be with me too! |

| I'm wondering this as well. I'd love to bring Cherry around when she's finished with her puppy shots, but I don't know if she's "allowed" anywhere.

| I sure do~ Peanut is my shopping partner! I have a stroller and he goes everywhere with me... inside mall, outside mall, cvs, walgreeens, walmart, target, lowes, home depot.. and the list goes on!! Nobody has ever said a peep to me... unless they are commenting on how cute Peanut is LOL. Most of them think I have a real baby in there!!

| I think some members here do. Personally, I wouldn't take either one of mine to any place that doesn't allow (like grocery stores). I think because food is involved, some people seem to react in a very negative way even if the pup is just quietly sitting in the purse. I've heard stories where the pet owners were asked to leave. However! I think it really depends on the area you live in. If you live in a pet friendly area, I think it's more "allowable". |

| Shopping I have taken Sophie with me everywhere. She has been to the Dollar Store, Insurance Company, Bank(s), my Dentist, the automobile garage, many many furniture stores, Home Depot, in other words she goes everywhere. I usually ask if I hold her if it is ok and the only time I had trouble was in Menard's in the U.S. We got permission from one employee but obviously another there did not like dogs so just told us to leave. I have a purse for her but prefer to just carry her. I have met too many Yorkies lately that are just not nice or friendly and over protective. I really believe the socialization we have done has kept Sophie the sweetest and most friendly outgoing pup I have ever owned. First thing she does when she meets someone new is to ask for a tummy rub. Just my opinion but take them with you if you can. There is always be a time and place when your/they require their own space and down time. Its a balance in life. |

| I used to take Lola with me a lot, sometimes I would hide her sometimes not. but I am finding it to be a hassle, first off I have to make sure she is nicely groomed, which LOL contrary to popular belief she not always is. Shopping with Lola takes twice the time, and errands take SOOOOOOO much longer, so many people want to talk to you, ask questions, pet her, take her picture, and then the worst part is they want to tell you about their dog and pull out their phone and show you their pictures, so an hour trip turns into two hours. It's not like I am not friendly, often I like to talk with other pet owners but some days I prefer to get in and out quickly with minimum conversation. Also Lola does not like to be cooped up and carried around in a bag and hates it when I try to hide her. So lately I find that I am going more places without her but getting home quicker to play with her which she prefers.

| I've seen pups at grocery stores near The Grove and no one says anything. Other places are not so friendly. For the most part, I stick to places that don't have food (unless there is an outside eating area) but yes, Kaji for the most part is my shopping/travel buddy.

| I sneak ZoE into places, if I happen to have her with me & I want to run in somewhere. I keep a KB bag in my car at all times specifically for this reason. She's always hidden in the bag & usually no one knows she's there... although, there was the time in Sally's Beauty Supply, when she sneezed & the whole bag shook while I was at the checkout counter, and then there was the time I was doing the self-checkout at Meijer, and as I lifted a pack of lightbulbs out of the cart, one bulb fell out & exploded on the floor and ZoE barked!

| I've taken a 12-pound foster pup with me to various clothing stores (Nordstroms, Macy's, Ross, and Neiman Marcus), coffee shops (she could come in while I ordered but we had to sit outside), Target, Sephora, etc. Some places would offer her water and even treats! -But my city is known for being animal friendly. Many stores (Lululemon, Haagen Dazs, and Michael Starts) have communal dog bowls by the entrance. I say just call in advance to not risk the embarrassment of being asked to leave. |

| Chad used to take Zeus in the grocery store all the time and never got told otherwise. Zeus would just lay there, lol. Of course, he's 6'3" and bald so seeing that with a little 6lb Yorkie may have had something to do with it. He would take him into Chipotle all the time too but just stayed quite a bit back from the counter. Manager said that it was OK, lol. Since we've had Thalia, we haven't really gone into many stores. A few, if we're both together, but without a stroller it's a bit tough.

| Stores I try taking Trixie with me often. We were kicked out of Target which made me very angry...she was in her stroller completely zipped up and she was not barking or anything. There was no way for her to contaminate anything. |

| A few years ago we lived in California and I took my Cavalier everywhere-library, mall, grocery store, the bank, Walgreens...employees knew him and were always happy to see him. We got Puff, our Yorkie, when we moved to MD and still have the Cavalier but MD is nowhere near as dog friendly as CA. I would love it if dogs were allowed everywhere!
