| Does anyone do this too? When I'm washing dishes, or sitting at the table I put Priscilla's bed and a blanket on the counter or the table and let her relax and watch me. Am I the only one who does this? Of course I watch her the whole time and never leave the room. |

| Personally, I dont put any of my dogs any higher than 6 inches off the ground, unless I have at least one hand with a firm grasp on the pup. i LEARNED THE HARD WAY, YEARS AGO WHEN i FIRST GOT A PUPPY, THEY ARE JUST LIKE HUMAN BABIES....YOU never LET GO OF THEM WHILE THEY ARE LAYING ON ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE FLOOR...BEDS, COUNTERS, COUCHES, CHANGING TABLES, GROOMING TABLES, ETC. (Sorry my finger slipped and hit the all caps!) I NEVER let completely go of my dog when it is over 6 inches off the ground..... What you are risking by putting your dog on the counter, completely unrestrained, is eventually, tragiclly, going to cost you both dearly. It isnt a question of "IF", but just a matter of "HOW SOON". | Admittedly, I occasionally set Ellie on the counter for a few seconds. She isn't allowed to hang out up there though. I have an L shaped desk that I spend a lot of time at. Ger bed is in the corner and she keeps me company.

| The others are right, though. Something...anything could startle her and her gut reflex will be to bolt. Perhaps slide a kitchen chair by the sink and lay her on that? Or a stroller. You can tell she loves being with you!!

| I was seeing all the caps and was about to get upset, but then seen your apology lol. I usually only do this when I'm home alone, so no noises from any of my family members startled her. I know the risks and I make 100% sure she is never left unattended. If I don't put her on the counter or the table she lays right at my feet and I don't want to step on her. Also if I put her up there and she wants to walk around or sit up in her bed I let her down. She is well behaved, and I trust her completely. I appreciate your concern though. |

| I would NEVER do this. Even though a dog may be perfectly fine there could always be just that one time ! That is all it takes and I would hate to think what could happen.

| Thanks for your concern. I didn't really realize how risky it could be. I tried putting her in a chair and she did well sitting in a chair with her bed, so I'll just start doing that. |

| There are risks to just about everything. Yes, this is risky. But heck, my yorkie bounces around here like some kind of monkey. She jumps from the couch to the loveseat, jumps across end tables, jumps on the recliner then on the back of the recliner. It rocks back and forth, etc. It would be nice if I could keep her a few inches off the ground but that will never happen. She can't be totally kept from furniture because that would mean a room with nothing in it. I could stick her in a playpen, but as of last year she could still jump out. Of course we try to keep her from doing anything too dangerous. She has a bad back afterall. But when you have a holy terror you can only do so much. Her laying on a desk is the least of my worries.

| Magnus will counter surf if he was ever up there so no. Zoey? She'll be trying to lick the water off my hands/arms so... no. LOL I do let Zoey up on my station on the days they come to work with me. But I worry she might try to jump off so I have her sit/lay between the keyboard and myself. |

| I would never take the chance. I admit I am a complete worry wart when it comes to the pups. Lol But I always think you never know when it will be that one odd time that they don't act as you thought they would. They are just too unpredictable. At least mine are.

| When I do the dishes Joel leaves me and goes to sleep on the couch lol, but he is a climber and if he wants something he will find a way. He climbs stuff anyway on a daily basis like he goes on the stairs, hops on the kids table then the high chair and from there he just learned to get on the counter so we had to move the high chair. Or he gets on the back the couch and jumps on the desk and steps all over the keyboard to get the pens and markers *sigh*He sure keeps me busy |

| I don't want Huey to know he could get on the counter or even the coffee table He is bad enough about getting up on the back of the recliner, which is his favorite hangout spot. At least he jumps down into the recliner then onto the floor to get down. (Except for 2 times when he launched from the top...scared us to death! Think we have that trick stopped now) If he found out he could get on the coffee table, no one's food would ever be safe again!!
