Yes, as Nancy1999 pointed out, clipping hairs will do it. The poop clings to the hair so if you keep it short and groomed back there, you shouldn't have the problem baby boy and I just had.

Kyra has to be shaved to stop this problem, but honestly I can't imagine it getting so bad that she couldn't go without me noticing it.

This kind of thing can happen from time to time. Keeping the hair trimmed short under the tail area helps. I had to run warm water over Gracie's back side a couple of times and then washed the area with an all natural pet shampoo. It might be a good idea to keep a mild all natural shampoo handy. Using a normal shampoo would be kind of harsh especially when the area is irritated.
