Will Oscar like a new companion? I need your feedback! I've had my lil' boy Oscar for 5 yrs. He's definitely a 'mammas boy'! Since he was a year old, I've dropped him off at Aunts home on the way to work, 4 days/wk. She has 3-4 small dogs and loves playing with his 'cousins', but always content to come home. My aunt is now moving...far away. . I know Oscar will miss the socialization. He probably won't adjust to a doggy day care, with bigger dogs and new faces everyday. Sssooo...we're thinking of introducing a companion for Oscar - maybe a new puppy or adopt an adult Yorkie - but he's used to being king of the castle at home! I think he'll adjust; and grow to love his new friend...my husband thinks he may not. Any thoughts?....

| I think he will love a companion. He'll get used to having another dog in the house and before you know it they will be playing and driving you crazy. As far as a puppy or an adult dog, puppies can be a bit overbearing for an older dog. It would be nice if you could find a rescue Yorkie or another small dog. Good luck and keep us posted.

Speaking from the perspective of someone who now has two, I say go for it. I love to watch the boys interacting and it makes me happy to see how well they get along

We've only had our 2nd yorkie for about 4 weeks, but it's been rough. Dallas was a huge mama's boy, and then when we brought Rory in, he was very upset. He would pout and hide from her. He's almost completely back to normal and as I'm typing this he's crawling on my lap giving me kisses. He plays with Rory now, but gets annoyed with her after about an hour and will find a place to go to sleep. He's about a year and a half old so I think that's normal. Rory wouldn't remember to sleep right now, she gets so into playtime! I say go for it. It may be rough in the beginning, if you get a puppy, but they get used to each other. Dallas is Rory's favorite play buddy and I'm pretty sure Dallas feels the same way (except when he's sleepy).

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I think we're leaning towards an adult companion and will take out time finding the right 'match'...like dating all over again, except this time it's oscars turn!

Although Mina lives with 3 other, older dogs I wanted to make sure that she would actually enjoy having a little sister. Soooo I borrowed, sort of,my neighbors 3lb morkie for 16 days, the owners went out of country. Mina had a blast!!!! I had already begun looking for baby sister. We should be picking Mina's new little sister up in about 2 weeks. Even DH is excited. Good luck in your decision.
