| Chewing EVERYTHING! Ellie is 8months old and the sweetest girl ever however, lately she's been chewing and tearing up all her toys and has now started chewing her beds and pulling the stuffing out of them! She has plenty of chew toys, bones, bully sticks etc. I don't know what to do to stop her she even chewed up my runner rug by the door a couple weeks ago. Any advice would be appreciated |

Is she getting plenty of exercise, interaction with you, walks? A suggestion, in ADDITION TO GOOD EXERCISE/WALKS, would be to work with her mind. Start some obedience and trick training sessions with her...make it a part of her daily routine. Just like a human child, a body with penned up energy and a mind that isn't challenged can lead to destructive behaviors...

| I totally agree with MandiesMom. Magnu used to chew things up even after his teething stage. Once I started taking him walking more or finding other ways to exercise him the problem just went away. Some of the things I do are: get him to run up/down the stairs few times I take one of their toys, show it to them, put them in the laundry room, hide the toy and then let them out to find it. They absolutely love it. |

YT 1000 Club Member | Fetch is the "indoor" way I tire/exercise my guys. My Adult Pair rarely ever need/participate, but my younger Male and Female do. I have a rather complex Living Room, couches and tables in various locations, where a throw and bounce of a (light) toy, can create a challenge for finding it. My new Female Chi Navi fell right in like it was second nature, and given her lightness (5.5 Lb) an agility, usually gets to the Toy first. But My Junior Male Ichabod uses his additional weight (8.8 Lb) and momentum, to take it away from her, and be THE ONE who brings it back. By comparison, Navi's build (very slender and thin skinned) would make Her appear to be fragile, but, She is NOT. She can Tug-O-War and chase Birds and Squirrels with the rest of my guys quite well. However, when going Hunting, She just tags a long. Not much interest in actually catching anything

| Good advice thank you all. I too felt it was boredom and feel bad because during the week we are working. I take her on nightly walks and we play a lot with her when we are home. Guess I'll have to think of more creative games |

| Gina has gone through a puppy training class where they teach the basics, and she loves to perform, we are going through it again, since she's not old enough to go through the intermediate class yet. I know a lot of people don't like PetSmart on here, but that is where she is going for the classes, I interviewed the trainers, before deciding on which place and trainer to use. Any time Gina starts to look for something to get in trouble with, we run through the commands again, even if she has already done them several times that day. She plays fetch, tug-o-war, and has her chew toys, we go for walks as well, but she loves running through the commands. I would suggest finding a good trainer and teach her all the basic commands, and some tricks as well. Cheers Quad
