| I trimmed a bit more on the left ear last night, and they are more even now :-) he looked so silly all lopsided hahaha. I only trimmed the back of his ears, and just a tiny bit on the edges, so as not to get to close to the ear leather. I did not trim anything inside, I'm not ready to go there yet lol. I also bought him a cheap battery operated tooth brush to play with before I trimmed them, and he loved it. So I think the noise did not scare him as much because the toothbrush noise was quite similar. It probably felt good on his gums too because he is teething very bad right now :-) This pic was from before I took more hair off the back of the left ear :-) |

I just use my fingers as a guide when I cut the edge of my babies ears. Just hold the ear between you two fingers the same way you would when you cut hair and use your fingers as a guide to where the edge is so you dong cut them. Just comb all the hair to the edge and cut the excess. It very easy

I probably only had the courage because when I was working, as a hair stylist, I was the one they always had do the babies and little children, so I was comfortable trimming on a moving baby lol.

| [Do you use the trimmers to trim the edge of the ears? Isn't that dangerous? The ear can get caught & the trimmers can cause serious damage to the ears. I leaned in grooming school to trim only the flat flaps of the ears, both inside & out w/clippers & scissors for the edge of the ears. I use 5" ear nose blunt tipped scissors to trim the edge of the ears.]QUOTE Yes, I do. I go up the edges-with the growth of the hair. I don't think the ears would ever get caught, but especially not the way I do it-I don't "push" the shaver against the ear when I do the edges. The shaver I use is a trimmer.

| I also used the small trimmer. I would never try to clip him with regular size clippers, because he's just to tiny :-) What is really funny now that I've added the yogurt to his food for breakfast, is the right ear at times stands straight up, and the left one.... Still down for the most part hahaha. I just walked by him sleeping and that right ear was even standing to attention, even though he was sound asleep, while the left ear was sleeping right down next to his face lol. |

| Since Gizmo's so fluffy have you tried shaving almost the whole ear? It grows back so fast, & I think it'd look cute anyway. Also it'd be easy to tape if you wanted to try taping. I often read a third of the ear should be shaved but I go half because it grows so quickly. On the other hand, that one-up-one-down look is always so cute! Sunnyd & Jenny: Thanks for the compliments on my babies. Dolly's the first dog I ever had & I just kind of made up a lot of the grooming tips on my own. I retired young, my sister moved in with me, & we give our babies LOTS of attention!

The taping scares me a bit, does the tape stick to any remaining fur? How hard is it to pull off when you are removing it? I've watched a ton of YouTube videos ad that's the first thing that comes to my mind, if I would be hurting him by taping them? You've done an amazing job on your fur babies kids xoxo

| So I decided after our before bedtime play to trim a little more :-) I trimmed down further on the back of the ears, down to the bottom. I also trimmed the edges, as well as the inside. I didn't realize how much long fur he had inside his ears lol. He definitely is one hairy fluffy little pup. I think I got it nice and short on the backs of them, on the edges of them, and inside :-) After he was done I gave him just a tiny bit of yogurt with his kibble too. So we will see how they shape up in the next couple days :-) when I give him the yogurt, I just give a tiny baby spoon of it mixed with his kibble. I knew those baby spoons from my grand babies that I saved would come in handy one day lol, I even use them every day for mixing his kibble and water :-) |

| ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good job! I think you may end up like me & be a very attentive primping mommy. In fact, today I think I'll shave the pads of their little feet!
