| I doubt Winnie will be anything but energy. She is almost 11 months now and can chase her tail for hours sprint from room to room in a blink of an eye. Dont think its cause she has no exercise, I am a stay at home puppy mom and walk her 4 times a day. Winnie will be chasing her tail at 20 I'm sure.

| With Gizmo, i wait for him to wake up and go potty on his potty pads, even though he is younger, I am teaching him a routine with a playpen. I take him out, play for around 20 to 30 mins now, he loves fetch and tug of war, so we do a lot of that. After playtime I put him in his playpen where he immediately eats food and drinks water after playing so hard, then I cover about 3/4 of the playpen so it feels like a den to him with a blanket, signaling to him that it is nap time, he lays right down and naps . I do this all through the day, and he also sleeps the whole night through. I think if the pup will learn, repetition could work :-) |

| If your aunt doesn't want to spend money on training classes, she can watch training tips on youtube. Or this site. It's full of good advice on training. If the pup is food driven, it'll probably be easier. Even with social interactions, use treats to let her know that meeting new people/dogs is a good thing. Some are more stubborn then others so it might take longer but be patient and it'll happen. Btw... a lot of dogs hate bath or any kind of grooming. But again, patience and they get used to it enough to put up with it. When I first tried brushing Magnus, it good me 30 min to an hour the first few months. He SLOWLY understood that if he lets me do what I need to do, he'll get treats during/after it's done. |

| I do know she has a playpen but she use it when she is bad like don't want to listen or bits and she leave her in there for a few min something like that. that's what we use it for when my little yorkie was bad or when we have people over that didn't like it when she was crazy as some people put it. but she only does it when she happy to see u when I or dad go some where with out here. but after a few min she fine. that's not the way with my aunt little one. she was trying to bit my aunt to get over to my little one. so that other reason why she don't want mine around her because of that. but if she don't see other dogs and watch how they act then she might never get any better. but at time we think that she like her this way. I know she don't want her outside to much since we got dogs running around this town and they go in my aunt yard. around my house we have the big birds I can't remember what they are called that would pick her up. but my aunt think that mine is to big where they wont want to pick her up. but we still don't want to take a changes so we just leave her on the led every time we go out or I just care her to the car and put in her carseat. my aunt little one got one too. but my little one love to go for car ride all u have to say to her want to go bye bye or go see my granny or my aunt. she love to go over to my granny house. I think my granny love having her over there too. but my aunt does play with her at time I just don't know how much she really does play with her over there. but I do know she does take that little one out for a ride all the time that one thing she been keeping up far as I know of. |

| my aunt don't have a computer or internet either so she can't do the youtube thing. I even forgot about that. and she can't get on here and ask for help that's why I am doing. but I think the book about yorkie terrier have training dvd. I did watching one time all they way till the end. but I never really did what it said. since we did the class and we took the same class over again since it didn't take with mine. she really heard head sometime. at time mine don't want to come when we call her. but she does it more often then not and she still go after my feet or my mom from time to time. but not much like she did when she was a puppy that for sure. but I might look up that dvd and see if my aunt want to watch it. but at time I don't think she want to do all the work. its just a feeling that all. but then again we don't know what she really doing over there since we are not there. all we can do is ask for the help on here and tell her what everyone said and let her do what she want with it. |

| Another thing that helps to calm Gizmo is, when he is super hyper and starts getting nippy, I will lay him on his back and cradle him with my arm like a baby and give him a belly rub starting right between his front legs and then down a few inches. He can't help but relax and start to fall asleep :-) I do ths very softly so it's super relaxing for him. It's funny sometimes he catches his self dozing off and jumps up like he thinks I have tricked him haha. He's still much more relaxed afterwards though :-) Last edited by Sunnydayz; 08-16-2013 at 07:34 PM. |

| she does go on her back when she don't want her brother to play with her any more or something that what we think she did with him when she was at the owner house. she does that with me from time to time. but when she does that I just pick her up. I don't know if she would let my aunt hold her in her arms like a baby and rub belly. but it something new to tell her to try and see what happens. but then again she can't even hold her to much in her arms with out her going crazy it seem like she going to jump right out of her arms sometime. it look that way when we see her do that. but at time I think she trying to get to me our mom or even my yorkie. at time I think she want to play with mine that we call fancy her cousin. my aunt yorkie name is brandy but we don't want her to since she may play to hard like she did with the brother. till she calm down some and she need to stop biting. fancy don't really bit it's more of a nippy then really biting where it hurts or anything. but brandy will bit to hurt that's what my aunt said but she never has done anything like that to me so far any way. |

| Draco is 6 months and still has so much energy! My mom doesn't like it and wishes he was calmer, so we walked the 3 short miles to her house one morning with some sprints, and we got there you wouldn't have known it! He was crazy, you could barely pet him because he wanted nothing to do but to play. The only thing that really tires him out is hours of play with other dogs, if he goes into daycare i'm getting a pooped puppy back. Some dogs don't take on a calm personality until after about 2yrs old. I'm not sure how old your aunt is but she could find a dog babysitter/walker who could tire the pup out for her.

| It is going to take a lot of work with the pup to get it trained. It is kind of dangerous for a dog that does not like to be groomed to go to a groomer. If the dog acts wild at the grooming salon the groomer could hurt her while trying to get the job done. I understand why someone may not want to do it since you really need a dog to cooperate when working on it. Combing the dog at home at least a couple of times a day will help to get the dog to accept grooming. If your aunt starts out doing it for just a couple of minutes at a time and gradually increases the amount of grooming the pup will eventually accept it. If she is bad at home about being groomed she will be even worse at a grooming salon so your aunt needs to really work with her. I understand she doesn't like to do these things but that is what training is about. Doing these things often on a regular basis will help the pup to learn. It won't happen quickly, it takes a lot of patience. I have worked with a lot of feral animals and basically a pup or kitten that has not been socialized early in life acts much like a feral animal in many ways. Being patient, kind and gentle is really important but being consistent is equally as important. |

| my aunt little one is 5 months. I don't think she want her around other dogs since she bits that why she don't want my little one around over there. but that one has run after my little the first time I let mine down in the house. but when mine was little one was about 9 months other dog did that to her. but she don't mind other dogs at time. every now and then she don't want to have anything to do with other dogs. I do know my aunt does play fetch with her. I don't know if she wanted to pay someone to walk her little one for her and too don't know if that would help much either. if she was going to do that then I would go over there and walk her and see if that would help. |

| my aunt just scared that the lady over at petsmart wont want to keep working with her that's all. but she does try to work with her at home. soon as she get done bushing her out she goes and mess it up again. mine does that ever now and then. but at time I don't think my aunt has the patient anymore. but she still trying. it could be the age my aunt is. she does play fetch with her all the time. it just hard to bush her out since she wont sit still for her so far. |

Gracie used to run off when I got done grooming her. Now she sits right there and waits for her treat. I keep a small container right there where I comb her so I can give it to her as soon as we are done. | |
