| I am sorry you are agonizing over this precious little girl. She sounds like she definitely needs help. Being pregnant and covered with fleas is not a good situation, and one which will get worse when the pups are born. What about Capstar to get rid of the fleas? CAPSTAR tablets are supposed to be safe for pregnant and/or nursing dogs and cats, so that is an immediate option to rid her of fleas. Capstar has no residual effects, is not a preventative, and only kills adult fleas, however, so a 'safe' flea preventative would be needed as well if you rescue her. There is a holistic preventative that works longer...if you are interested I can PM you the information. Bathing her in Dawn might help quickly rid her of fleas, as well, but she would then need to be kept away from her previous abode where there will be plenty of fleas. Good luck with whatever you decide. {{{Hugs}}}

| I've asked a man next door to our shop to please ask these people if this is their dog. Today I brought collar, leash, flea shampoo, flea spray and I have dawn dish liquid. You are right..as soon as she leaves here she will be back under that flea ridden house. And if she and the pups make it they will all be covered in them. The thought brings tears to my eyes. I watched the people walk around in their yard yesterday and they never even bent down and petted her. Her tail was wagging and she was trying to greet them but nothing. I've seen this before. I worked on my husband last night until I could tell that he didn't want to talk about her anymore. He knew I was working on him. Bringing her home is not an option but he did say I could keep her here at work. If she would stay in the fenced in area I would bring her into my office everyday. Problem is we leave everyday and are not here on the weekends. The fleas and the pregnancy are my biggest concern right now. I'm not going to just turn a blind eye I have to do something. I paced my pourch until 1:00 this morning trying to get a plan together. Wish us luck!

| I'm so glad to hear you're going to do something!! Why don't you just bring her to a rescue? That way she will be taken care of, she'll get medical treatment & the puppies can find good homes too? The poor baby deserves a good home. Thank you so much for trying to save this little girl! The whole thing breaks my heart.

| She's a mix but not sure what. The man next door just came over. He talked to the lady and she said she would give her a bath for the fleas. Alot of good that will do..more will just jump on her as soon as she goes back under the house. She would not admit that it was her dog, no yes or no. I asked the man to go back and tell her that that poor baby is pregnant and she needs medical help. Just had a delivery person tell me he knows of no-kill shelters on his side of town and that his girlfriend was an animal lover too. He will be talking to her tonight so maybe they will offer some help. I'm going to see what's in my area as well. I really have to be careful what I start with the people across the street from my shop but I will not stop with this until this dog is taken care of in every aspect.

| The problem with Capstar is that it only kills the fleas that are immediately on her...it doesn't keep them away, so you'd have to literally give her capstar all the time. I think I paid $8.00 for one capstar pill at the vets, so it would get pricey. I don't know if you can give Frontline to a pregnant dog, but something that kills both the biting fleas and the eggs would be best...of course, only if it is safe to give a dog that's prego. BUT...even then...they puppies would still be in danger. Puppies can easily become anemic from biting fleas....and I am guessing that's what would happen to them if they were born under the porch...not to mention the fact that it is HOT HOT HOT in Florida. A bath is going to do less than the capstar would. I've given my dogs a bath in dawn dish soap and still found fleas running around...and as soon as the dog goes back under the porch, she will be covered with them again anyways. They could always bomb under the porch and spray their yard with something like 7 dust(assuming it's safe for a pregnant dog to use the yard afterwards) but what are the chances of these people going to all that trouble when they don't even take care of the dog in the first place. I would simply ask them if I could have the dog. Heck, you could offer them $20.00 to buy the dog from them. Or...you could get the SPCA involved and I am guessing they'd probably remove the dog OR at least make sure the people get proper vet care. I totally know what you are going through...as far as not wanting to rock the boat. I have a neighbor who literally uses the house next door as a dog kennel. He comes over no more than ONCE a day for about 10 minutes to feed and let the dogs outside...and you know dogs potty more than once a day. They are getting food and water and are healthy weights...but still, they are lacking human interaction. On top of that, there is no AC in the house and I can't see ONE window open!! Can you imagine how hot and stinky it is in there?!? They have a fenced in yard...how hard would it be to put in a doggy door...or even easier yet...open a few windows, at least on the second floor!! Still...I don't want to start world war 3 with my neighbors, because they are moving in this fall....On top of that, I know Animal Control won't do squat...because they do have food, water and shelter. They've already been called by the neighbor down the street and they wouldn't even bother to come out. I don't know what the difference is btwn leaving a dog in a hot car with no windows cracked and a hot house with no windows cracked...but I guess that's ok |

Absolutely! It must be done before the pups are born...and no reason to upset the neighbors.I am not a 'pet thief' but, personally, if they don't lay claim to her, she is 'technically' a stray, and if it was me, I would snatch her up and off the block to a more out-of-the way (or unseen...even indoor...basement w/puddle pads, etc.)...location, treat her with Capstar and several baths and flea combings in rapid succession, and get a safe flea treatment on her as quickly as possible. The holistic flea treatment can most likely be delivered by the time a $30 (approx.) box of Capstar is done, and she'll be done with fleas. If there is help that can whisk her away to the opposite side of town, so much the better, especially if there is a loving home she can spend the rest of her life in waiting for her as well.

| I'm just reading your post. Please take this dog to a rescue so she and her puppies will have a chance. Whoever owns this dog ought to be shot. You should at least call animal control and have this poor dog removed from such a horrible life. This is total animal abuse and has to be reported. |

| Have gone outside looking for her several times and am just hoping she comes back around. I really thought I would get a clear "no not my dog" today. Still trying but not thinking straight right now. The rescues that I've seen on site all want you to foster. That is my biggest problem. I cannot bring another dog home. The SPCA might be my only option.
