| Anyone a Yorkie psycologist? LOL My Yorkie is three now and spoilt rotten to say the least...she's a bigger gal, about 12 lbs and has droopy ears but I still love her. My problem is she thinks she owns me and the neighborhood. She sits in her "empire" and barks and growls at anyone walking by in the neighborhood. But my real problem is, she doesn't like my husband. If I am at home she will bark and growl if he even walks into the room or tries to talk to me. She is a total brat when we are both home. The odd thing is, if I'm out, she sits very calmly and never makes a peep. Otherwise, she's very very smart, I think she understands everything I say to her but she really really is attached to me and always has been. Any advice for her aggression towards hubby? |

| Welcome to YT! Sit your yorkie down on a sofa and talk about her mother with her- lol j/k Is your girl a new addition or have you had her since she was a pup? My boy thinks he is king of the neighborhood and barks even at the great dane that often walks by! When they named them they meant to call them Yorkshire terrors but something got lost in translation It sounds like your yorkie thinks she is boss. You must establish yourself as boss. Something that has worked great for me is when I take my terror on a walk I walk him right beside me or a little behind but I do not let him go in front. If I see him notice a dog or a person and start to get irritated I pull him to the other side of the sidewalk and use my leg to block him from going after them. I gently tug on his leash and say 'no'. If he lets the person pass by I praise him for a job well done. Teach her some basic commands, let your husband do them with her too. If she is growling at him he should not back down, he should go sit next to her until she stops then praise her when she is behaving well. Don't let her on your lap or near you when she is being like this. You need to teach her growling is not going to get her what she wants. Welcome to YT!

YT 1000 Club Member | That's good advice from ChibiLuv... But remember, once one of our guys attaches to someone, it' s a forever thing. However, if you get your DH to start giving out Treats, putting food/water down for her... Just getting him more involved in things she likes to do, will modify her "protective" instinct toward you. That also means that YOU also have to back off some, less petting, and other close contact, leaving some of those things for your DH. This won't be fast or absolute.
