Sounds like this lady is either in total denial or she just doesn't care that she is breeding genetic problems that will be passed on to her puppies and become the problems of their new owners. I wonder how many other people have tried to get their money back?!? I am guessing this isn't the first time since she admitted that soft spots are a "normal thing" for her. |
I am sorry you are having these issues. The breeder seems to be perhaps not even a 'quality' person...her breeding skills may reflect her personality, if that's how she treats her customer who call...talking over you, etc. I hope things work out the way you need them to...for you, your DH, and especially for little Zoey. {{{Hugs}}} |

she did say it was normal in long haired chiwawas zoey is I believe 25 percent of chi...maltese....Yorkie...lhasa apso....However she lied about how big it was...and when I went to the vet yesterday and saw that he was alarmed at the size of it I freaked out and he also said it most likely wont close bec it's large but may get smaller...There is no bulging as far as I can tell and the dr would have said something. ..I just would like to add she has two which she also failed to mention then the vet found one on each side he said they will most likely close because they are like half a pea...ahhhhh. |
Thanks everyone for your support! |
The breeder was telling me if I bring her back she would keep her most likely or give her to another family ...I know shes trying to make me feel bad selling tactic |
The situation is so unfortunate....this may never develop into anything worse at all, but it could end up breaking your heart. Instead of enjoying your little girl, you are going to be walking on egg shells, waiting for the other boot to drop...... If this lady would have only been honest with you from the very beginning, all of this may be a moot point. I know NOTHING about the other breeds that are in Zoeys make up.....I know NOTHING about the vulva issue....someone else covered that issue and it does not sound promising....as much as it is going to hurt you to part with Zoey, I think in your same position, I may let her go back to the breeder. And I would then take my refund and find me a reputable breeder. I try to live by my motto, "If it hurts, dont do it".....I think it is too painful to KNOWINGLY assume care of a potentially ill puppy, that I would fall in love with and then suffer heartbreak as I watched that baby die. THAT is why I have such a HUGE respect and appreciation for these people that rescue these babies....I just could not continue to loose pup after pup and continue on.....I am not up to that....You have to figure out how much you are up to, both financially and emotionally....that will help you decide what is best for you. |
I am just so sorry for this whole situation. Sorry for Zoey and sorry for Amy. I will pray for a solution that will let Zoey LIVE a long and healthy life. If she were mine, I would do everything in my power to ensure that, and would not be concerned over money paid for her, or the the possibility of illness in the future. She has not been diagnosed with any life threatening illness YET. Just because the vet found a few imperfections, this is not a death sentence. Please Amy, just love your adorable little Zoey, and get over the fact that you might not have gotten all that you thought you paid for. Like many things in life, it's not all about money, and little Zoey is depending on you to stick up for her and protect her. |
1 Attachment(s) can u see anything? |
I can't see anything from that picture, but then I wouldn't expect to. I would be very concerned about a one inch opening in relation to her head size. I'm wondering if she has had an increase in size since the first 2 vets did not seem that concerned. I wish there were some easy answers for you. Only you can decide what is best for you and your family. I don't know what I would do in your position. After 7 weeks, there is no doubt you are attached to her and want only the best. |
i spoke to my vet and he strongly recommend that I give her back... |

Sorry just saw your question. Hers was about the size of a dime or maybe half an inch. I asked the vet when I first got her because she was so tiny to check for this. The vet checked again at her spay (1 year old) and it had closed up. I pray all works well for your little one. |
dog I despise people who rip other people off by not disclosing the truth. I would not let this rest until that woman who is breeding unhealthy dogs gets her day in court. I would be so mad! To have the nerve to sell me a sick dog. You go after her and she better pay up all those vet bills or meet me in court! Bad breeders need to be stopped and put out of business. |

Really?? I thought apple head chiwawas where the long haired chiwawas? I thought tcup was referred to all toy groups out there? |
There are a lot of "buzz" words thrown around all the time by breeders. Teacup we know is one for sure, but I am not at all educated with chis, so I don't know. That's why I'm asking. |
'Apple Head', I thought it was a word that breeders made up to describe their head shape. Obviously, if you breed for that 'look', you're over looking the fact that they have open fontenelles...which I always thought were not supposed to be bred. So I read a little online & it's a controversial subject. Some argue that if they 'culled' (yes, they used that word!) all the carriers of that gene, Chi's would not be in existence. |
culled? I'd like to cull them....arrrrghhhhhhhh |

By the way I know im spelling chiwawa wrong im just taking the easy way out |
thank you I thought you were doing it to annoy me! hahahaha |
@amyazer- I went through the same situation with my Chibi. He was diagnosed w/ grade 2 patella's at about 6 months old. Since I had him for so long before he got diagnosed even though the breeders contract said only refunds if I returned him we were able to talk it out and she ended up giving me 1/2 my money back once I sent her proof of his diagnosis and she claimed she had his mother spayed. I do want to warn you though where there is one problem their are probably more. I love my dog more than anything in the world but at the time I had him I worked at a vet's office and got things at cost and still paid probably well over $5,000 in medical bills for him in the short 6 years I've had him. He has been so sick a lot of his little life and it is heartbreaking to go through, there were nights where I just held him and cried and worried if I would have to make the choice to euthanize rather than let him suffer. Luckily he has been in good health lately but it has not been easy to get here. I know you probably are in love with this puppy but please think long and hard about the long term problems this little one might have. If you are up for it financially and emotionally go for it but be prepared- it is a long hard road...... from some one who's been there |

I had gotten a puppy from a breeder in January. (This was prior to the puppy I currently have.) His name was Rafiki. I had him for 2 days and he started having horrible seizures. My boyfriend and I rushed him to the vet and $1400 in vet bills later we had to put him down because he had Hydroencefulus and was not going to survive through the night. I was heartbroken. The breeder gave me a refund for the money I payed for Rafiki but would not help with the vet bills. I was so devastated that I had just lost my little baby. Take my advice.. Hydroencefelus is a fatal birth defect. I know you don't want to give her back but believe me you don't want to watch the poor thing suffer and you should not be the one to have to make that kind of decision. Let the breeder take care of it. :( |
How can some of yall say just give the puppy back to the greeder? Seriously the pup would be better off put to sleep then given back to this terrible breeder who would either pass her off to someone else for lots of money or even keep her and breed her! Sometimes it needs to not be about money but about this poor pup she should absolutely not be given back to the greeder unless money is the ONLY concern here. This is a living breathing being that feels things, she didn't ask to be born with problems so she shouldn't have to suffer and be given back to a terrible person who will do God knows what with her. |

When I bought my dachshund about 13 years ago he had a testicle hernia. Being so tiny at 6 weeks old, they could not do surgery yet. When I got home from the vet I called the woman I bought him from. She offered to refund my money for the pup...but if I kept him no money on vet bills or refund. I hung up on her. How dare she? So what if I only had him for a few days. He had a name and it was Odie. When I left her house with him, he was my child. He eventually had surgery at 8 weeks. He died of heart disease at 10 years old. I still have days where I cry because I miss him so much. I'm tearing up now thinking of all of the wonderful years I had with him...the love we gave each other. If I had to make the same decision again, I would. Please think hard before giving your baby back. You have an opportunity to give her a wonderful life full of love that she may not otherwise have. I'm sorry this post is so long. But, it is important to me to share it. |
