Donating YT 30K Club Member | No some stay dark. I have 3 and Cali who is 8 stayed dark black, Pixie who is 7 turned a silvery gray/black and Roxie who is almost 6 turned a dark gray. The standard calls for a steel blue I believe. Mine seem like they are always changing colors.

Some yorkies stay darker in colour. Personally, I love it. I've never shaved ZoE's hair, because I'm afraid if I cut off all the black it won't come back, cos I see a lot of silver underneath, so she just gets a little trim to stop her looking scraggly.

It sounds like Buddy will be blonde and grey. Do you know what his parents looked like?

| My Max is almost 5 years old and has a very dark saddle. He is in full coat, so I'm not sure if he would appear greyish if I shaved him down. Teddy is almost 4 and his saddle is lighter. He appears more silvery in pictures.

| My wife always adored darker colored yorkies, but reading a bit online I seem to find info that they eventually go blond/light/silver. |

| My young-ish P & P have both stayed black so far. P-Nut will be 2 in Sept, so I'm thinking he'll stay dark. Pickles is 1 year, 3 mos, so he may change. I love when they stay dark, though, I think it's soooo pretty. |

| My neighbor's Yorkie has stayed blue but he's much more a traditional Yorkie than Tibbe. He's got a doggier face, is quite sturdy. But my Tibbe(6 lbs.) and my Jilly(3 lbs.), who both are/were smaller and more petite, have a more juvenile-looking over-all appearance and are distantly related, went gray beginning at about 10 months give or take. Tibbe gets very light on his back/torso in the summer though the roots there look quite dark. Still, his over all look on his body has been gray for most of his life. My first Yorkie, Scotty, stayed quite blue all of his life and he was only a tad over 3 lbs. as an adult.

| Kyra is 20 months old and still very dark all but her paws, the inside of her ears and a little on her muzzle and beard. Laddy is standard yorkie colors and has been since he was about 18 months old.
