Yorkie Yakker | My Yorkie hates bows! I LOVE little dog bows, but my little boy hates them. As soon as I put one on him he thinks something is attacking him and runs around the house trying to pry it off. It looks so cute for a total of a half of a second. Then I feel bad and take it off of him. How does your yorkie react?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Joey was like that, but now he will wear bows without any problem. Start with just the band, and don't make it too tight, there should be some room in between the band and his scalp and basically he shouldn't even feel the band in. After that goes well for a few days, go to puppy bows, which are actually just a small piece of ribbon with a hair band looped in the center to make a bow. These are pretty easy to make. After a week or so when he gets use to the weight of that bow, you can go for a slightly heavier/larger bowl. If he starts rubbing his head, make sure the band isn't too tight, and if it's okay, distract with a toy.

If you just try to put a bow on your Yorkie's head, it's only natural that he/she'll think "there's something up there!" and most likely will want to remove it. It's a new, foreign object and feels strange to your little one. Sometimes, a bit of bow training (and patience) is necessary. Good luck! PS - Welcome to YorkieTalk!

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | LOL I started with the colored hair ties I got at the Walmart kids department. It was easy to put on. I kept going lets do top knot. I would brush it and put the tie in. I would keep doing it. He finally got used to it. He would take his little paws and try to get it out. Always look like a hot mess. . . Sometimes he still does lol. All I can say you have to keep doing it.

| Great advice! My mom absolutely loves it when Zoey has bows. Unfortunately, she too hates it and tries to get it off the first chance she gets. I think I'll try these methods and see how it goes. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Kristin told me you have to keep at it. He will get used to it. Well I kept at it. Now I say ok we are going to do top knot and he doesn't give me a problem. Also reward him as you you are doing it. I have a few Cheerios that I break in half. I give him one in the beginning. Then I brush the top of his hair another Cheerio, then I put the band in and another Cheerio. Also as I am doing it I am talking to him in a calm voice. You are such a good boy. Trust me I did this every morning. And a few times during the day lol but he got better. After he got used to the hair tie. Then I did latex band with a separate bow. Good luck

| Thoses are bow ties...not bows. Can you imagine one of them with a bow in their hair! I googled "Men who wear bows," and nothing/no one came up.

| Abigail hates them. I can't even get her to stay still to brush her topknot. However, it may be my own dang fault. The one time I WAS able to get her topknot in I think I may have made it too tight. She couldn't blink. |
