What do you wish you'd named your dog? Were they almost named something else?

I really really wanted Ruby Bella to be named Meeka or Sasha but we had such a hard time coming to an agreement on her name. We ended up drawing names out of a hat. DH was very pleased and I grew to love it!

Teeka was almost a "Jazmine" I still love that name, but my DH doesn't like it. I would have called her Jazzie for short. What's so funny about this, is if I my last child had been a girl, I would have named her Jasmine!

I named my baby Dooney because I love purses. ( Dooney and Burke) since Coach doesn't sound so nice...plus it's unique. My second choice was Brody, but I think Dooney fits him perfect.

What's funny to me after reading this is that I realize I have been saying Couver's name wrong in my head when I read it. I didn't know it was short for Vancouver. I was thinking it was pronounced like "cover".


Love reading all these stories. Deb - my last dog/heart dog was a pom and her name was Jasmine. I always called her JazzyFace. I named her after Jasmine Guy (the actress on Different World back in the 90s). I thought she was so pretty and I loved her name.

Rhett was almost Jaxx, but it didn't quite fit him. We did go through a period where we called him Atilla because he was such a little terror.

Scarlett was always Katie Scarlett, no ifs ands or buts.

Cali was the most difficult. We went through Fiona, Phoebe, Bree, Prada and too many more to list before she seemed to respond to Cali.

At the dog park, some people try to call him 'Cooper' because that is what they hear when I say Couver, so now I say "Couver, like Vancouver" and most people get it.

My Willow was a breeder release to Rescue Group I adopted her from. Her Foster named her Willow and I loved it and I kept it, just added a middle name to it. Willow Grace.

Allie was an owner turn in to the Rescue Group I adopted her from, her name was Alex, and I changed it to Allie, as I thought Alex sounded like a boy. Her full name is Allie Nicloe.


Luci I took in as a rehome her name was Juicy. I did not like her old name at all, so I changed it to Luci Chevonne.

Max was going to be Winston, Winnie. Dad looked at the puppy picture and said the name didn't fit. He chose Max, and I agreed if it could be Maximus for Russel Crowe's character in Gladiator. Our Italian neighbor called him Maximo and it stuck. We call him Maxman mostly.

Whenever Max is exhibiting his intensity, I pick him up and cradle him like a baby, and tell him we should have called him Winnie so that he would be mellow.

I love the name Max. I know it's common, and all, but it's always been a name I've loved. My aunt has had two dogs named Max now though, and there was another Max in the family too, so it's kind of too used up in our fam for me to ever use it lol. I love that your guy is Maximo though, that's different!

Oh and I do love Winston. I think if I ever got a Westie or something, I'd love to call it Winston.

Harry was almost 'Alfie', but we have a tv programme over here with Alfie Moon in it - and Andy wasn't happy with that....

So Harry became Harry, named after Andy's favourite football team's manager - Harry Redknapp.

Unfortunately, the manager has now changed - it's now Andre Villas-Boas aaargh!!!

So now occasionally you can hear Andy calling in the park...."Andre, Andre, come here Andre".....and the thing is - he does!!!! Sally + Harry/Andre xx

I actually love Harry a lot better than Alfie! I love that you have a dog named Harry, I don't think I've ever met another!

I am pretty much obsessed with Couver's name. lol. I LOVE unique names that most likely no one else is going to have but it's still not... too weird or out there or anything, ya know what I mean?? Yah, I definitely cannot imagine calling him Jim Bob, LMAO

Our first yorkie Charlie had many names: Charles Manson (sometimes it fit, he hated cats and small animals), Charles Barkley (it fit wayyyy too often), Charlie Brown (for those days that everything went wrong for him).
